Is it transfer case issue?

Does anyone have transfer case issue on f15?

It has resonance when slow speed. I tried the VTG calibrating but it seems no improvment.

I had front tyres with Pezo 4 and rear tyres with PS4S for 6000km. Now i have no idea to fix it.

I had unplugged the transfer case fuse from the fuse box. But it has no issue.

please could you describe the issue in more details?
transfer case on F15 is very sensitive to tire wear ... rotating tires is known to cause jerking driving ... I experienced myself.
Seems like you have different tires front and rear .... this certainly can be an issue

What do you mean by you unplugged the fuse but it has no issue?
Do you mean the noise or vibration stopped or it didn’t. If it did then it’s your case. If it didn’t stop. Then it’s not your case.

But yes as the other guy said. Running different tires with different diameters due to tread pattern thickness etc shouldn’t but could cause issue. Especially as they are at different rates.

I changed the rear Tyre’s from Ps4s to PZero 4 last Saturday.
Now Front Tyre’s and rear Tyre’s are both PZero 4.
Front 275 40 20
Rear 315 35 20

I think I need a proper procedure to reset or calibrate the vtg and try again. Could anyone advice how to perform it properly?

Thanks

I unplugged the transfer case fuse which means stop the transfer case function. And there is no more shaking from the car.

Unfortunately BMW transfer case is very sensitive and most likely wont like different tire size. I had the same situation when rotate tires ... immediately car was jerking. I had to put the tires on their original position.
The calibration with ISTA is only useful when replacing the fluid. It cannot offset tire differences between front and rear axle.
Need new tires on all 4 corners.... this is the solution.

[QUOTE=baubaulu;31184739]I changed the rear Tyre’s from Ps4s to PZero 4 last Saturday.

Front 274 40 20
Rear 315 35 20

your tire size is not the same, that's your problem. in the vehicles the total diameter needs to be the same. the second number in your tires is the "wall" both wheels needs to be either 274 40" 20 and 315 "40"40 20
or 274 35 20 and 315 35 20

That's wrong!!!

I have 315/35R20 or the rear and 275/40R20 on the front and that makes them the same circumference.

The second number is the aspect ratio or percent of the width, not "the wall".
