My E82 X1, E46, and 1M are all under your max length. My prior garage couldn't fit a much longer vehicle and even though I have moved to a larger home with a bigger garage I don't want to have to put a 5 series sized 3 in my garage. |

Why the GC is not RWD is due to its positioning in the market and its need to be competitive amongst its erstwhile competitors. Driving dynamics is not enough in the highly contested compact segment. Whilst I do not agree with the decision. I do understand their reasons for it. So a flagship xDrive M35i is on the cards to join other UKL based BMW models that will Be offered under the M Performance umbrella. We see the first UKL based M Performance model later this year underneath the bonnet of the all new BMW X2 which I have been driving the current at launch top line model in Lisbon. But under embargo at the current time. Back to the 2er Gran Coupe. Seems it could work out rather well.

Exactly right on all points. We all love BMW because of their "I don't give a fuck about FWD attitude and stuck with RWD for driver experience. I even could accept that they adopted XDRIVE to compete against the biggest HP model performance cars because they stuck with RWD bad started losing the acceleration wars.. but to jump on the FWD train really ruins the brand because of what they had solidified over the years of being the brand that will ALWAYS b the Ultimate Driving machine before an Eco box. :/

and when you talk about competitiveness with other, what actually we are talking about? The little space provided by the lack of a shaft? Or costs? If yes, what will be the difference between an Audi FWD and a 2GC RWD? I am just trying to understand better your statement. Thanks. |

I guess I just don't get who would prefer an Xdrive 2 series with a 4 banger over something comparative with an S in front of it from Audi with Quattro... The S cars have decent dynamics, if this drives like a fwd 3 series with no dynamics, it will be even worse than anything bmw has produced.

Which one is the FWD BMW, and which is the Pontiac Aztek?
It's really hard to distinguish between the two. BMW, you've lost your mind and your dignity. Makes one wonder if anyone in Munich even likes to drive?

But seriously, this 2GC could look really good (its only the heavy cladding that makes it look like the Aztec at the rear!) And I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again... fwd doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t drive well... all my pre bmw cas were fwd and some of those were great handling cars!! Hmm that's to bad that it wont go RWD it would have so much potential of being BMWs "Back to kick as" small sporty sedans as before. If it comes as AWD but with RWD bias then it still might be something to go for other then that to bad then this won't be the car for me
