They mention that if you have larger front calipers, you need two kits. Did/does your f10 have large front calipers and does one kit work with plenty left over?

What do you mean by M sport brakes? M sport package doesn't come with different brakes.

Do you mean MPBK? Just want to make sure no one is confused.

My assumption was that he just had the brakes that came on his M Sport, not the MPBK.... My F30 had upgraded brakes as part of the Msport package so my guess is that was the case for the F10 also.

The picture you are referring to has painted calipers and a sticker ///M placed on caliper. This is the thread where I took picture from originally: https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...o-upgrade.html

Oh thought he was referring to his X5. They clears it up.

I need help finding some good, low cost drilled rotors. Rockauto and other sites let you choose X5, but then there isn't an option for M. EBC site has the option for M under X5 but I don't really like the idea of black rotors and Maverick said her heard from an F85 guy that they don't fit, or maybe that's just the EBC pads. Either way, I don't like the black rotors.

Anyone use or hear of these guys? Good ebay rating...

So the OEM F85 are $585 for a front pair: https://www.bmwpartsnow.com/oem-part...PWxheWVyXzE%3D

However I like yours for $429 more as they are also slotted and you'll save $155 for a pair ($77 per rotor). Are they as good as F85 OEM ones that are 2 piece instead of 1 piece in your ebay link? I'm not sure, but it's not like you are going to track it often - so even if there is slight difference, chances are it won't affect you.

AFAIK 2 piece rotors, like OEM F85 ones - they will prevent heat transferring to center plate and that heat will expand center portion of rotor and you'll get vibration under braking etc. This is why my F85 oem ones are perfect and not a single vibration since I put them. But again - for casual city driving 1 piece rotor is more then enough. Just my opinion man.

With shipping you're at $620 for the OEM rotors.... But I didn't know the OEM rotors were two piece, That makes the price difference understandable. As great as that is, I'm actually a very mild driver even though I like to mod my ass off and make the car as fast as possible.

They also have some with different slotted patterns - https://www.ebay.com/itm/FRONT-SET-B...4yAn:rk:6:pf:0

Yes, for casual driving 2 vs 1 piece shouldn't matter. Go with whatever design you like more slotted/drilled. I suspect pads material (and choice of calipers) will have more impact than rotor quality in this case.

Are there any other drilled options out there besides the EBC? I couldn't find any.

Also, did you get the 385 rotors for your rear? Confirmed that there's another mounting location and we don't need a bracket?

I'm cheap lol so I only upgraded front rotors/calipers. For rears I just swapped rotors for drilled/slotted ones from StopTech (same size as oem) and painted rear calipers to match color. It looks good as it is now with all rotors drilled and all calipers red.
Ideally, don't be cheap like me lol and do a full upgrade. However, honestly I feel that what I have right now is enough for me and I drive like a maniac.

The major difference upgrading rears to 385mm rotors will do is you'll have people stare not only at your front brakes (like they do at mine now), but on rears as well lol. Stopping will be probably improved somewhat too.

I haven't searched lately for 395mm rotors so I can't tell really, but I suspect there should be some new options. I haven't confirmed it yet about extra location on bracket - but I'll post if I find out some info about it. I just went to other mods and haven't kept the touch on this issue.

Cool. I'm leaning towards these 1 piece rotors. If you go directly to their site, you can get 4 rotors (395 front and 385 rear) with pads for about 800 shipped.

I wish we had a better caliper option for the rear. I hate to have the upgraded 385 rotor and still have the same dinky caliper.

The caliper isn't the same for 50i and X5M. It's a larger caliper, larger pad, and larger rotor. But all in all not really necessary. And trust me cuz I have both and they are quite a bit larger.

Also there aren't any options for X5M rotors that I've found outside the fleabay brakenetic ones. Been thinking about them myself but to save $200 vs oem I may just go oem in the end. If I have to do all 4 then I'll probably go with them to give it a whirl.

I actually ordered the pads that they offer, posiquiet, from tire rack but they were back ordered.

Are you talking about just the rear rotor? I understand the front is all different. I bought the calipers already, now just hunting for the rotors and pads.

My understanding was that the rear 385mm X5M rotor could be used with our 50i rear caliper. Is that not the case?

Yea I'm flip flopping on these Brakenetic vs just going OEM. Also, Posiquiet pads are made in 3 different versions - semi metallic, ceramic and extended wear. They don't do a great job of calling out which pads they include.

I'll grab a closer look at the rear calipers and compare to the 50i but the M calipers look larger. Can't rely on part numbers and bake pad sizes as I've learned from the M5 front calipers.

When do you plan on installing yours? Your install will give me a lot of insight on what I need to do with my rear rotors and calipers.

Did your kit come with 385mm rear rotors? Crossing my fingers that your rear calipers are the same as the stock 50i.
