I think part of the problem is the sensors detect a leak so won't initiate a regen. Not sure if I can force a regen with the code reader?
Or is there any other simple bypass to prevent the computer from going to a no-start condition?

So yes, you can force a regen.. I believe you have to be doing 45mph for it to kick in after activation. You also need to be in a spot that you’ll be driving non-stop at that speed or higher (I can’t remember if you must maintain that speed or can drive faster during manual activation).

What codes is your car giving you? What are the reasons all this work has come up? You didn’t mention any of it in your post.

I’ve had mine deleted for some years… no issues with engine or power. Siting just above 175k. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I just got my DPF taken out today. It was a battle! I have a Matt Santjer tune and the rawtek exhaust. I have to finish up the exhaust tomorrow and it will be done! Also the SCR module was in a crazy tight place. My 328d was so easy compared to the F15.

But to find one with all the options is rare, and then spending $22k on a new vehicle that is almost identical or has a few missing options isn't appealing. I like the car, but all these combining at once is a bit much. I'd just at least like to extend the life a bit before looking at alternatives. Maybe the newer X5 hybrids or something - but still nowhere near the mileage, and require premium. Not a lot of good options at this point, but for 15,000 miles I've got about 6-7 months to figure it out.
I do not believe Ontario does emissions testing...if that is the case find a shop and delete it. No more DEF and no more DPF.

So this is my 3rd oil change now using 5W40 (moved on from 5w30). This protects my engine better at operating temperature in this Florida heat!

No issues with it. And unlike most, I don’t let my vehicle get to operating temperature before driving it. 5 minutes is good enough for me, then just nothing over 2k revs until it reaches half operating temp.

I’m gonna drive this SAV until the motor quits, and so far I don’t see it happening. 5k oil changes 👌🏽

I went in for brakes (first set since picking it up in 2020 - I drive highways a lot). I had seen an error code for "swirl flaps" and it was down a bit of oil before the last change, so I asked them to look into it, and it came back with fire, brimstone and wanted to change everything but the paint colour.

I also don't drive as much on the highway now, so that's not going to help if the DPF is starting to plug up.
I've got a bigger drive this week, I'll see if I can force a regen and keep it in sport mode - that keeps the tach up a bit.

Gotcha.

Yeah, if you’re having swirl flap problems, it’s possibly soot. I do believe ISTA+ has a way to diagnose your swirl flaps (It’ll tell you % of open/close) so you can check functionality.

I'm sort of hoping a few tanks of 'premium' diesel, a forced regen, and some highway driving in "sport" helps blow a bit of the soot out to prolong the life. Annoying thing is it drives great - haven't noticed any driving issues.

Does anyone know a good shop in North Houston that can be recommended for deleting my X5?

How’d it turn out for you?

I opted to keep the stock muffler, straight pipe to stock muffler style. Inside the cabin can barely tell anything changed. But the difference in performance and [exterior] sound is astonishing. I don’t think I’m going to see any mileage increases cause rolling into the throttle/the torque is just so addicting LOL

Turned out really good. I had a code get thrown due to a sensor that was not happy. It actually was one of the 2 last sensors in the OEM exhaust system. Both of them needed to be unplugged and the code went away. Matt worked with me to address the code and we figured it out.

Anyway everything is good and yes I can tell a difference. Just feels better. I do not hear anything inside, the resonator and muffle kept it oem sounding.

Can the programming part be done remotely? I have a good mechanic who can replace the parts if instructed correctly, but need some help with software part.

Yes.

Whom ever you buy your tune from will most likely send you a device to plug up to the OBD, with instructions to grab your ECU files and email them out. They email you the tune.

It’s not difficult.
