MDX or Q7. I sat in a relative's Q7, that car can seriously hold 7 people in comfort. Interior was great too, I also like the exterior styling.

yea i think were going to pull the trigger on the Q7, imo it looks pretty slick for how big it is.. the biggest thing we need is to be able to hold 7 people and have trunk space after that because I have 3 other brothers and sisters and we all are older than 17 (my little brother is 17)

my wife and I went through this search two years ago, we went with an Acadia SLT, and she LOVES it. I recommend it the acadia or enclave highly.

Funny I was just going to recommend it too. I checked out the Acadia myself the other day the Denali edition and I was quite impressed. Good Price and a very nice SUV. Was quite and handled well.

+1

At the auto show that was in town recently, it definitely stood out. I was quite impressed/surprised by that car

This is true. I was also in the market for a 7 seater for my growing family. Before going out and test driving etc, I was all about the q7. In person the front looks good but from side or rear it looks like a minivan (to me). I also checked out the MDX which is very nice, has more backseat room then the x5 but slightly less than a Honda Pilot. The reason I didn't buy that (although its rated very well) is because they have basically carried over the same body style for a while and are due for a change. i didnt want to buy a truck that was outdated in a year.
Long story short I bought an x5 diesel. BMW is offering some great rebates (3500 eco credit + 2500 holiday) in addition to 0.9% financing for 3 years. The 3rd row wont fit anything but young children and there isnt much room in the back once they are up, but I wasn't interested a Chevy or Ford supersized SUV.

My sister actually has the xc90 with the v8 and previously the 6 cylinder. It's a nice truck, comfortable and powerful, but just a little too plain for my taste. Definitely don't get the 6 cylinder as it feels severly underpowered.

What about a Lexus GX? It starts at 52K. Escalade is quite nice too, a friend of mine has one, but the 3rd row is kind of tight.

My buddy just picked up an XC90R used, and it is really nice. Looks great too. If you get a Q7, get the S line package!

We're searching for my wife as well and we're looking at the x5, q7, and possibly the LR4. The x5 has 3rd row seating but it's for small children or very short rides for adults. Haven't sat in the q7 or LR4 yet. Check youtube for reviews. That's what my wife and I were watching last night.

Q7's (Tourags also probably) and LR's have not proven to be very reliable.

The new LR4 is AWESOME. checked it out before we got the X5, it's good off road, plenty of space in it, fun to be in.

Off the wall choice here but what about a Mercedes R Class, the 2011's looks a hell of a lot better than the early models, they have serious space inside, near SUV driving position, probably hands down the best family car ever made.

This.

My dad was looking for an SUV last year also so we went and drove the Q7 and the GL back to back. Ended up with the GL550. The Q7 doesn't drive well and I don't like the looks. I think you should go with the new face lifted GL, the diesels are very nice!

However, the current GL is getting replaced in a year or two with the 2012 model, so you may want to just go with an Escalade.

I had one for a 3 year lease. Great car if you don't get the 350 V6, it sucks. But now they cut the V8, SO. buy a R63 AMG for 50K. 500 hp family car.
