I think I paid around 2200 or 2500, and it came with pads, just have to buy rotors. bigger calipers than the m brakes although the diameter of the rotors is smaller. He posts on here quite often you just gotta search the forum, there's so threads From him about selling the calipers, he's the same guy that made the upgraded driveshaft which is a more recent topic. I think they're 4 piston rears and 6 piston fronts if I remember correctly.

Just an update…car has been perfectly smooth since I changed the fluid and recalibrated the transfer case. 99% sure the issue was caused by the previous owner changing only the rear tires and then changing the fronts 4k miles later. They did that a couple thousand miles before trading in the car…guess they noticed the issue, too 😂

Just to further validate everyone's recommendations to change the transfer case fluid and reset the adaptations, i just did the service myself over this past weekend. I used ProTool to initiate the TC calibration, as i already had it to code a brake upgrade on my F32. Not only did it rectify the unfavorable driving conditions mentioned in this thread but it also cured a shutter/shimmy i had on decel from ~30 to 20 mph. Completely smooth now - like a brand new car. Old fluid was pitch black.
I started a separate thread on front driveshaft play. While the car rides smooth now, it's still on my list to swap out as I'm not completely comfortable with it. Thank you everyone! |

Big thanks to Tony dentprotony@gmail.com
My new front drive shaft was delivered and installed today. Great service and top quality product. PS. I wonder if the drive shaft had been replaced previously - see the paint pen marks - all joints looked and felt good, no lubricant leakage. |

Glad you are happy with the upgraded shaft and install was easy peasy for you! Stock shaft might been replaced as a part of bmw campain but it's nowhere near the unit that we make lol. If anyone is ready to order please text me directly 6016181023 or email dentprotony@gmail.com It is hard to communicate via pm whem it looks like i am allowed to have 6 messages only. Takes time to delete to be able to receive more and then i cannot keep up with a communication at all. Hope admin would allow me to have 7 messages for Christmas lol |

I found a cheaper alternative to the extended splines shaft. I installed a custom flange that makes the shaft longer so the splines reach the transfer case deeper.

I am still of the camp that these (the F15 X5 specifically) fail at the U-joint due to corrosion, and not because of shaft engagement at all on the F15. But if it gives peace of mind to have more spline engagement at the transfer case... ppl have choices. Personally, I'd just replace the shaft with a suitable replacement every 100,000 miles for <$200. Which is what I did. |

Honestly I have not measured it yet. First one installed right away for myself. I made a picture before installing it though.
It’s not very thick but it reduces the slack a lot. I got few orders so I can measure it when I get hands on the new ones. Last edited by sipelgas; 09-29-2024 at 05:06 PM.. |

If in a salt-laden area... yeah, I'd look at replacing every 70-80k I suppose. Especially if the u-joints look badly rusted. But there are currently hundreds of F15s for sale currently with over 100k miles (over 300 on autotrader alone). I'd bet 95%+ of them have the original shaft in them. I'm glad you made a product like this for peace of mind for those that want it. Overbuilding isn't a bad thing. But, it should be noted, those who are more budget conscious have options to address the problem as well. As is, there isn't a huge epidemic of exploding shafts, but peace of mind is good. That's why I replaced ours even though the original hadn't failed. The u-joint in the original was crunchy compared to the new one. |
