70 is hwy speed in most areas. Also, if you do higher speed, then it's easier to calculate lower speed timing. |

Depends on which side of the fence you're on... Plastic bottles, in cardboard boxes, that are not supposed to be reused, and the plastic bottles aren't technically to be recycled because they held a chemical, along with the manufacture of precious metals to be put into the DEF systems, along with the manufacture of all the parts and pieces to put the systems together, not to mention the excess fuel burnt to perform the regeneration process. To put out less "soot".
Or, burn less fuel, and don't use all that crap and save in other ways. Less manufacturing processes, less mining, less waste.

Maybe off topic, but the only thing I really don't like is driving behind someone who has no cats (for us gasoline guys) or has poorly executed delete (for diesel guys) and you can smell that stinky stuff even if you are like 1/4 mile behind. Unfortunately, it's not only tuned cars that you would normally expect, but also old cars that are except from emissions. Especially in Canada they drive in their 1950 old restored truck that smells for miles. And it's completely legal. Those folks like to show off their cars and go to Tim Hortons and then normal people can't go there due to smell in 1/2 mile radius.

Sweet, i was looking to get my wife a 35d but was concerned about reliability because of all this emission equipment. Do you think there is something else i should be worried about?

You'll have to worry about all the smelly Ontarians soon.
And I don't mean the legal weed smell April 2019 all emissions testing will be gone. There's a bigger focus on commercial trucks.

Hi MrTookies, I just put down a deposit on a 15 x35d which I can't take until the (EGR recall) gets a fix. This would be the 1st mod I would like to do for obvious reasons. Plus I live in Miami. Got to love Florida. I have a question. I want the exact set up that you have done. I was wondering if it is too loud? Im worried about my neighbors and the exhaust sound pissing them off. Did you get an improvement in gas mileage? Would you be able to take video of cabin while driving please. Would getting a downpipe make a different in noise for louder or quieter? Also I'm not mechanically inclined to do this. Would a regular BMW mechanic be able to do this?
Thanks for all your info and great thread. I appreciate your response. |

From what I have seen, the only available option is the Buzzken DPF delete as stated yourself in the OP.
From the prior gen DPF deletes, Rawtek used better metallurgy as compared to Buzzken. Additionally the shop which I will use for the DPF delete kit has a preference towards Rawtek and would be more comfortable with their product. Last edited by VZX5; 12-16-2018 at 12:14 AM.. DPF Delete + CAT = 849+300 (price just went up it seems)
EGR = ~ 100-150USD Tune = 1000USD Installation is ~ 6-9 hours, depending on the shop (I had 3 quotes so far), so assuming 100USD/h and 7.5h, 750USD for install. Not accounting for any shipping low cost would be ~ 3000USD. I've been quoted 4000-4500 CAD for all in ABC delete with tune in a local shop |

What's required for the the delete (everything is mentioned in the main post) Downpipe: $850-$1150 Depending on what option you go with and if you need/want to add a cat. Tune: $750-$1200 for the delete/tune depending what company you go with and if you want to have a power tune done as well. Delete plates: ~$100 Muffler pipe that needs to be bend from a muffler shop -$100 I did the install myself so I'm not sure what it would be in terms of labor... a lot more than what I paid ;-). Did I gain MPG? No I didn't. It remains about the same, but on the flip side I had the ECU tuned for higher power output. If you don't get the performance tune...there is a good chance that you might see some gains but I have no way of knowing what that might look like. The sound is absolute no problem... I left the muffler in place...so it no much louder but you can defiantly tell that something is different... |
