All,
If you can change your engine oil, this is the same level of difficulty. I would not recommend any transmission waiting to 100k. I plan to do it once a year to keep clean as possible as its impossible to get it all out. This will keep it in good order. Best, Frank Last edited by Franktea1$; 09-03-2020 at 08:21 AM.. |

One of the biggest hassles on my other BMWs is access to the damn filler plug. Have had to drop exhaust hangars and the like. Maybe f86 has more room. Haven't been under mine yet. |

I do HIGHLY recommend you get a power filler like I linked below. It's worth every penny and takes only seconds to fill the last 1.5 liters in while the engine is running, vs trying to operate a pump while crammed underneath. Also recommend wrapping exhaust pipe next to fill port with an old towel, your arms flesh will thank you later. I use 4 ramps and just drive right up all 4 at same time to save time and hassle on jacking up truck and guarantees it's perfectly level. It is very close clearance on stock M's so if you are lowered double check to make sure you can clear ramps in rear before buying them. https://www.amazon.com/Motive-Produc.../dp/B00I6BG1KI |

I watched the video on youtube about changing your tranny fluid. My question is, does that kit come with the transmission filter, since our pans are aluminum and the ones featured in the video are either plastic or graphite and has the filter made into them. I'm looking to have my transmission along with the transfer case changed soon. In my E63 AMG the kit comes with it's one filter and O-Ring that push into place, and then bolt up the pan with new mounting bolts. I'm pretty sure that BMW is the same, or is the new pans plastic?

I use the low profile Rhino ramps (link below). They are 8.5 inches tall so double check you have enough clearance if you are lowered/run different then stock wheels.
Also this probably seems obvious but never try to go up 4 ramps at same time if you have 4x4 errors....I did one time when I still had the fuse pulled for the transfer case and hilarity ensued as only the rear tires went up the ramps while the front just pushed the front ramps https://www.amazon.com/RhinoGear-119...x=rhino&sr=8-3 |

Ya I was a little concerned too at first but rest assured they are Rock solid. I had mine on them for three weeks straight once while I worked on and off on the exhaust system. No signs of any type of wear or warpage and overall I have used them more then a dozen times.

There are some scary ones up there but it still 4.6 stars out of 5 with over 6,400+ reviews. With that being said, I think it's wise to always use jack stands after it's up on the ramps as a safety no mater what brand you go with.

Totally, as depicted in this pic. Nonetheless, I'd opt for the solid steel version of these ramps as an additional safety measure.

Does anyone have the part # for the transmission oil filter and gasket. I've been searching online but couldn't find one either from Pelican Parts or FCP Euro?
