For info as per this thread:
http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1141677 it doesn't qualify for £5k Government discount in the UK by 2g of CO2. It will attract VED taxes of over £400 per year if bought new from April 2017, so double bad news for UK market. Is anyone buying one? |

New video for the UK market.
First time I've seen official towing stats of 2,700 kg (6,000 lbs), which is same as other F15 models.

Seems only a matter of time re X6, tho not sure about the output you are after. Do remember tho E power is instant. If you've not driven an i3 or i8 try it. The immediate power is intoxicating.

The XC90 T8 with the 3rd row is a winner in my eyes especially the R-Design. That's what I would get if I was deciding between the X5 & XC90 plug in hybrid. |

What wheel style is on X5 40e in pictures
Which wheel style is this?
The ordering guide says it come standard with 19" style 450's. I like the wheels in the pictures better.

The style shown above is 19" Streamline style 490, also known as code 2T2. On base models it is a £1,000 UK option. It falls into the better of the two wheel combinations in terms of mpg / CO2 (the other more efficient UK wheels being 2AZ, 2H7, 2H4 and 2D4), the precise value depending on the engine of course.

I'd be curious on final EPA numbers. The one picture the dealer didn't get was the mileage sticker on the window!

Took Delivery of xDrive40e last weekend
On the ride home from taking delivery of the new SAV, I received a RECHARGING MALFUNCTION. Returned the car after 5 hours because the cars battery died and it went into a safety mode where the alarm sounds and then stops, only to start again.
Car is at the dealer and a Corporate tech comes to troubleshoot after they installed a new car battery. Test drive the car again and they receive a High-voltage charging error. They want to keep the car for another 2 days to decide if this is an individual car issue or a larger issue. I guess if they can't sort this one out, then I will need another car (plus money in the glovebox) built to my specs. Still want a working 40e. Driving a diesel loaner and it is a base car. I like the torque, but it doesn't feel like a high-tech new toy. |

Acceleration is smooth and good under electric. The motor when needed will come on under heavy acceleration but I could barley feel it or notice it coming on, more than anything I could just hear it.
I got around 17 miles per full Charge. But even once the battery is lower it still shuts off sometimes and uses the battery during city driving, like at traffic lights and low speed. Overall I was really happy with performance and drivability. I am debating between a diesel and the 40e. The determining factor will be whether it is eligible for a federal PHEV tax credit. If no tax credit the diesel presents much better overall costs because it's about 4K cheaper. |

Not to take away from the value of the Bimmerpost forum, but I wanted to invite anyone who's interested in the closed group on Facebook for "BMW X5 xdrive 40e".
I found the FB group for the i3 to be extremely helpful and wanted to see if folks here wanted to consider using a closed FB group to discuss it. So, search it and send a request to join. -Andy Here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/8820...c_location=ufi

For vehicles acquired after 12/31/2009, the credit is equal to $2,500 plus, for a vehicle which draws propulsion energy from a battery with at least 5 kilowatt hours of capacity, $417, plus an additional $417 for each kilowatt hour of battery capacity in excess of 5 kilowatt hours. The total amount of the credit allowed for a vehicle is limited to $7,500.

Yes it does seem that would be the case but the EPA still has to put it in the list to qualify for the tax credit and right now BMW NA on the corporate side says they have not had a response from the EPA so currently there is no tax credit on the 40e according to my BMW NA Regional Director.
