The X5 was not designed for off road use. It was never BMW's intent.

I actually do think you are in the minority, and I don't mean that pejoratively. With the X5, BMW found an enormous appeal to an SUV with on-road handling capability approaching their sport sedans. They've sold way, way more of them than they initially expected to on the basis of that appeal, and they know that a micro-percentage of SUV buyers overall - let alone X5 buyers - have any desire to use their vehicles off-road.

Notice that Porsche had substantial legitimate off-road capability in the first generation Cayenne, which they left behind in the redesign, because doing so enabled them to improve upon the car's main appeal.

I had same feelings, but then I converted to M Sport and it looks really good. G05 isn't that much different from M Sport F15. Almost identical on side view. Latest G05 M Sport photos (not x-line that was shown previously) show that rear end looks very similar - same concept with trapezoid pipes and general looks as F15 M Sport. Except taillights. And front looks also kinda similar when you see G05 with blacked out grills - it really is not much different from F15 M Sport IMHO.

Ya except yet again BMW cheaper out on us and instead of actual exhaust tips we get that cheap ole plastic chrome plated bumper inserts. And the actual exhaust just terminates just before it.

So I guess they don’t plan on selling an MPE for the G05? Or it just won’t include tips I guess...
