59% for what mileage? Saw someone post for 15k recently, but 59% should be for 10k, 57 for 12, etc..

^Has to be one of the ugliest suv on the road with cheapest interiors for that price point. (IMO).

Wife has a 17 Tahoe premiere/LTZ...only 2 kids but stroller + lots of road trips to visit relatives. Large vehicle to be sure, but it rides well and is very comfortable. Navigation is an upgrade from the 15; has apple CarPlay, etc...would rather have that for a family car than a minivan.
Mostly, though, it's about the size/weight/safety for me. If you've ever lost anyone in a horrible car accident, you think differently about what you drive and how you drive it. I will never own anything smaller than an SUV unless it's just for occasional casual around-town trips. While the X5 has more than adequate safety features, ample airbags, and substantial weight/heft, I will likely be getting a Yukon XL for road trips & size/safety. Also, for those seriously considering an Escalade per previous posts, while the trim & appearance may be nicer than the Yukon Denali, I believe it's the same engine and near same interior, the GMC being substantially cheaper. Both the Denali & Escalade have a 420hp V8, while the Tahoe & Suburban only output ~370hp. |

looking at the pictures of the X7, it's a much uglier version of the XC90 (which is a good looking car imo). this is just my personal opinion, everything bmw put out so far at Frankfurt is hideous aside from the M8. I would think the X7 would also be a bit tall to fit in most garages.

If safety is a concern - then I would rather have a 5200lbs x5 50i that can MOVE on highway rather than a slow Yukon Xl and similar vehicles who are just 400-500lbs heavier, but almost twice as slow. For me ability to avoid accident on highway and yes, you need power for that - is way more important than a passive 400lbs more weight

What about stopping distance? I believe there is at least 10 if not 15 ft difference in stopping distance between X5 and something like Tahoe. I can't find enough data right now, but that's what I remember when I was checking 3 yrs ago.

http://www.caranddriver.com/chevrolet/tahoe Tahoe 209 ft http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...0i-test-review X5 172 ft Those of us who rock upgraded brake kit on x5 (like MPBK or Brembo) - will have for sure better results - like this x5m has 153 ft http://www.caranddriver.com/bmw/x5-m X5 is X5, no doubt it's one of the better SUVs out there, but Tahoe and company (Escalade, Denali, Suburban etc) of course have more space and they are probably better suited for large family. Upcoming X7 will be more like it - but it will be a lot more expensive Last edited by DuSh; 09-13-2017 at 02:40 AM.. |

So My wife let me know that we should be expecting number 2 Spring next year. Considering my parents are with me a lot, my 3 row 50i not going to cut it. I know this might seem shocking out there but the 2018 chevy traverse High Country has reallly impressed me, like really. Its actually bigger than a Tahoe but smaller than a Suburban. $53k for every option available which is a lot of options. But I am so conflicted in letting go of my X5. My X5 is amazing and nothing compares but family hauling does change things.

I would agree that X5 is by far safer not just because of the stopping distance but with better handling. I've avoided a couple of accidents by last second maneuvers to swerve out of the way of cars stopping short.

No doubt it has more maneuverability, better decel/accell, etc, and I get what you're saying, but it's being hit from the side/head-on that kills people, not fender benders. Which is why in scenarios semi vs auto, semi always wins (you never see truck drivers killed unless they're hit by a high-riding vehicle or another semi or they flip...not to be morbid but you see semis wiping out entire families in minivans all the time). Not getting killed in a MVA at interstate speeds is not reliant on driving skill/vehicle test-track capabilities, it's reliant on luck and who is hitting you, so when you remove "control" from the scenario, I'll take the Tahoe/suburban over my X5.

No idea what it will be like, but this looks like a considerable upgrade from the last iteration of the navigator.
3.5L twin turbo v6 = est 450hp, 500lbft torque. 3rd row looks decent sized--depends on "regular" vs "extended"?... have to wait til later this year. http://shop.lincoln.com/build/navigator/2018/#/select/ http://www.motortrend.com/cars/linco...t-look-review/ |
