Had some weird stuff go on with my SMP lately...I fully wound it before I slept and the next day, the watch was running very fast. I read that the hairspring can get hung up on something causing erratic movement. It did look a little off to me. I tapped the watch a couple times and it seemed to fix it. I wound and set it and its ok now. Another thing. If you creep the crown back the seconds hand will totally stop which means the hairspring also stops. How is this possible with a full wind? Both of these just started the last 2 weeks after wearing it for 10 months almost daily.

I realized that my AD put the rubber strap on backwards (watch had the steel bracelet on it in the store but I wanted the rubber!)

I was able to fix it myself using the tool that came with my Seamaster Spectre.

I didn?t think I would notice, but the watch looks and feels so much better!

Probably also avoiding a repetitive motion injury from constantly twisting around to see that script - I know I would. It is a real beauty, thanks for sharing the pics. Much better looking in this 'live' context than in the recent write up I saw on it (studio pics).

Thinking about selling my 38.5 Aqua Terra 8500. It's in need of servicing but before I send it off I wanted to know what you guys think of selling it as "recently serviced". Would it impact the sales price and by how much or would it just increase the likelihood of selling it.

Omega servicing is a little less than $600. I'm seeing these watches retailing for a little less than $3k.

As long as it?s an Omega servicing I always considered that a boon and worth a slight premium over regular used. It?s basically refurbished to as like new as possible and with a re-up service warranty, so I used to think it fair if I saw 50% or so of the service cost added to the asking price.

So I went to grab my Seamaster out of the closet and noticed the motor in the winder must have gone out. It could have been sitting idle from a little over a year to six months (yes I havent looked on that shelf in awhile) but now the watch will not keep time well at all. Its slow about 3-5 minutes in 24 hours.
Is this a service thing? I've had the watch about 5 years.

Let it run for maybe a week to loosen it up a bit. Set/wind it a few times from dead. If it's still slow after a week or 2, send it in. Maybe you live close to an Omega boutique?

If it's an unmodified ETA movement, could very well need a service. I *think* the co-axial Omegas advise 5-7 years between service?

First thing you should try is winding from the stem. Give it 20 winds and see if it starts.

But as stated above, if it is not a coax any watchmaker can service it. Look up Mark Sirianni, he is well regarded and cheap.

Still have my seamaster pro that I got as a graduation gift in 2005. I have acquired a bunch of other watches, but I always find wrist time for that one. Just never gets old for me.
