another coding thread
My friend helped me last night coding my new 2018 X5 with the Carly II
I noticed that there wasn't many things I can do, now I guess my question is, one, is this maybe due to the fact that the car is still somewhat new? two, has anyone used Carly to do coding? and if so, what are some must do's? I really wanted to change the video mode while driving but didn't see it. only things I've done so far is -Fold mirror with lock button (hold down) with key fob -seat belt noise off -windows & pano opening same time with holding unlock on key fob |

You need Bimmercode if you want VIM.
E-sys will always have more options. But, it all depends on vehicle packages and year; more and more things are standard. |

My Carly adapter is set to arrive tomorrow. Wish I knew about the VIM is only compatible with Bimmercode. Thinking about returning the module now.

You can do anything on the 2018 that you can do on the prior year F15s.
I have no experience with Carly but Bimmercode gives you a ton of features you can code extremely easily. |

E-sys is the best IMO, but takes more effort (i.e. Windows laptop, cable, etc.).
Bimmercode is pretty easy, wifi OBDII, runs on app from your phone. Both are great choices depending on your coding goals & aptitude.

Using Bimmercode, do I have to order a software/receiver or has it all done wirelessly?

I find it super convenient, no extra wires or laptops. Just your phone and the adapter. |

My Carly adapter came in today and I can only code 4 out of the 6 modules.
Can't code idrive since Carly is not compatible with the latest version of idrive. So I ordered a charge adapter and gonna give Bimmercode a try

I think I may keep both. Good to have for future usage.

So far I like bimmercode more. The interface is more simple and I can code more modules compare to Carly.

Got my adapter in for the bimmercode app and everything is done easily and most of the stuff in somewhat self explanatory, but could I get some help on the circled items in terms of what changes these make? Most of them our related to trunk closing and opening but don't exactly understand how they relate, esp when it says "footwell" please help!*:thank you:
