MPE exhaust on luxury line ?
Can you install the MPE on a non M sport rear bumper ? I have a 2016 luxury line and got hit on rear end - dented my muffler. I'm getting a new exhaust system in the insurance dime and thought I'd swap out for an MPE.
Will tips work ? I could also swap rear bumper too but the side skirts / running boards on my car wouldn't line up / flow right with m sport rear bumper unless I painted side skirts ?... I may just leave my rear bumper stock / let them replace it as stock, but add an MPE... then add MPPK or a JB4.

Definitely worth it imo since there really isn't much out there for a 35i. Rather being loud it has a crisp tone to it sounds great if anything its too quiet compared to the mpe on my M4. From the cabin you could tell its louder than stock but nothing obnoxious.

MPE will work but I went the Vibrant muffler route and kept the stock tips for now. My build thread has a video of it.

I'll have to look for some sound clips of that option my car was in a minor rear end collision and the rear muffler was damaged I'll be at minorly however the insurance company is paying for a complete muffler replacement on the back of the car the insurance bill shows over $1500 in an exhaust system to replace the OEM unit so I was thinking about just doing MPE.

Unless there's a way I can code it and add that feature into it! Can that be done? I was able to code sport shifting into my transmission with Bimmercode but I do not have a sport + option in my dash. Does the MPE exhaust have flaps that open and close in sport mode versus comfort mode I am not sure if a non-M sport model like mine has the correct engine software to manipulate exhaust flaps???

Just saw your question and will chime in. I did the MPE exhaust on my non-M sport X5 drive 35i. You cannot keep the stock round tips. To use the MPE you need a different bumper insert and it has the larger M sport cutouts .. so you need new tips.
I think the new ehxaust is honesty a tad loud..and doesn’t’ sound as sporty as I thought it would. I was able to do all this after my car was rearended…so the shop just bought different parts.. Msport ehxaust instead of the stock ehxuast, etc. so it cost me NOTHING. If I had paid out of pocket for this I would have regretted it. I think it sounds better…but not like an M3 or anything. The cold start is LOUD. My daughter now drives that car, she is a high school senior and all the boys at school thinks it’s cool.. I have moved on from my X5 and my M550.. now drive a Cayenne GTS… now THAT is an ehxaust!

One take-
You are driving a nice car for a HS Junior! $1800 is a lot for the exhaust and other parts - but then again - pretty much all the aftermarket stuff for a BMW is pricey. Have you tuned your car? I debated about tuning the X5, but i have other cars I drive and so lost interest in modding the X5. I also have an M550 and a Porsche Cayenne GTS.. both of which are stock and will rip the headlights out of the X5… But I do believe you can get a tune for the X5 from tuning freaks.. the BM3.. it’s like $800 or so?? Probably adds a LOT of power to the car. I’d do that before an exhaust. What wheels do you have? Ours has the staggered 20’s. They look really beefy with the painted wheel arches. I might do that before exhasut as well. Good luck on your mods! And study hard and get good grades in HS and go to college!! If you want nice cars - they are $$. You will need a good job to pay for them!

If you’re still in school i wouldn’t worry too much about this car - be thinking about the car you’ll have in 10 years.
I’m 51… quite a bit older than you. In college I had a Miata. Fun but not very expensive. As I got older and made more money, my cars got better and better. I recently had a new M550 and now drive a new Porsche Cayenne GTS. My Cayenne will keep up with my M550 in a straight line and roast it in the turns. My next car will be a Taycan or 911. But I worked hard in school, grad school..and in my future career as a lawyer. I’m now a Judge… I’m a gov’t worker so I’m not making mega moneyk but I do really well. It all was possible because I worked hard in school and in my career. Be patient and $$ and success will follow. In the meantime - do tasteful mods that are not too expensive and will not mess up the car. A mild tune woudl be good. I believe that BMW sells a tune called MPPKS.. it’s a factory approve tune that the dealer can flash that will add decent power and will not void the warranty. I might start there. Best of luck!
