These are an interesting option. I wonder if the bore works. ET38 in the rear would look great.

I suspect they can't sell into the US- but it's always worth asking. |

Looks great, just hope those cheap wheels will hold up.

So, I decided to just mount the non-M X5 winter setup on factory 20" wheels. 275/315 Pirelli Ice & Snow Runflats. Going to remount the Pirelli P Zeros in the spring.

I live and drive frequently between NY, NJ and PA - during the snow/winter months potholes are an issue in this region, does anyone have any suggestions on which winter tire size is better: 20" or 21" to prevent blowouts?

Without a doubt 20 inch. The smaller the wheel, the larger profile tire you can run. The larger profile tire gives more pothole protection.

As far as winter performance is concerned, width of your wheel (narrow for snow traction) is likely more relevant than the composition of total wheel/tire diameter. This why the OE set is 40mm narrower in back. Of course, you're more likely to encounter uneven pavement in colder months. |

Thank you.
Do you think it would be better just to keep 20" winter tires and 20" summer tires in this region due to potholes? Can I risk 21" wheels during summer? I have read several posts that warn about frequent blowouts... |

You can if you want. I live in NY and my car was delivered with 21s, and I'm happy I have them for Spring/Summer/Fall. The tires are engineered to have better grip in warmer temps, and the OEM 21 wheel/tire combo is plenty safe and can handle minor potholes. Yes, the 20 will do better and I agree with everything said above, but if you hit a monster pothole like we get up here either one can be toasted. It's kind of a drag to have 2 sets of wheels, so it's up to you, but all-season tires aren't the greatest in any season, whereas the stock OEM 21 Mich PSS tires are great in the warmer months, and the stock 20 wheel and Scorpion tires are awesome in the snow. But you'll definitely be happy with 21s, in my opinion, for the warmer months...

Thank you all very much for the input.
Last questions...can you please tell me the price of your Scorpion tires? I saw there are 2 different kinds. Also, my BMW dealer was very frank with me and told me regardless of the tire, in a lot of snow, 20" or 21" tires will not grip as good as smaller tires. He said the XM5 is just not a good model for regions with snow. Any comments on this? |

yea, I'm wondering if I'm just going to have the change the rubber on my OEM 21s as the snow OEM 20s are still no where to be found. And it looks like we're finally going to get some mild snow here in NY.
What's available as a winter tire again for the OEM 21s? Any recs on what you think would be best? Thanks |

Perfect timing! My wheels just came in, getting tires mounted this afternoon. We are supposed to get some snow later today. What a nail bitter waiting for them to come in.
I have the OEM 20s - style 611, so I just ordered two more front wheels (285) to use for the rears. The winter set up dealer recommended was the same style 611s but in a different color and they were on backorder. These were available and I got them in a week. So I'll have dedicated rears and will just change tires for the fronts. Two less wheels to have sitting around. I still have wheels from my 2013 X6 M and the 2016 X6 50i.... I have wheels everywhere. So glad they came in. |

I asked about ordering 4 fronts but the cost was way more than the unavailable 611 winter package or the 491 package. Only ordering two probably made it workable. Please post pictures when you have them mounted. |
