BMW OEM Sunshade - Center Cut Out Too Small
I'll say in advance I wish I kept the sunshade from my E70, because I just got an OEM F15 sunshade (82112458103) and the center hole is not big enough to fit around the mirror with out a bunch of manipulation.
Has anyone cut their sunshade to make the cut out bigger?? Or are we just bending it around the mirror? EDIT: Just to be sure, these are the hard cardboard like sunshades, not the soft roll up ones* Pics for reference: F15 OEM Sunshade: E70 Sunshade (which probably would fit just about ok): Last edited by snowsurfer; 07-22-2022 at 12:15 PM.. Well I ended up cutting it, I manipulated it quite a bit but don't feel like messing up my mirror and folding it etc every time I want to put it in the window.
Awful design in my personal opinion. I cut right here where the red lines are in this attached picture, to 1 in from the stitched seam. |

We also bought an F15 one and no way could we get that thing on in a few seconds (which is what you want in a sunshade) without basically pounding it over the mirror stem. We promptly returned that and bought an E70 shade since we tried the one from our 2010 X5 and it fit great. |

As an update, I decided to just cut the flaps off and roll with it, I wasn't going to pay to ship it back anyway. Cuts are here now: Last edited by snowsurfer; 07-23-2022 at 10:11 AM.. Reason: add more details |

Hmm, I have had the E70 one since I bought my 2014 F15 and hate that it's too short.

Best pic I could get inside the car at the moment, sun visors keep it up pretty decent without too much drooping. Don't need to flex it around the mirror at all. I used this tape to make it look finished: https://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Weath.../dp/B07GRJ8L55 |

I'm still amazed, can't find words for this one. I ordered the OEM one and had the same experience on my X5M with DAP... didn't have the heart to cut it so I returned it for a refund. Will try the E70 version. Should have checked the forum first, but I never would have expected that this was a real issue!

Do you have the driver's assistance package (DAP)? That appears to be the differentiator, but I haven't tried it on a car without that package. Definitely was looking for a tight fit, but there was no way I was going to be able to fit the F15/F85 sunshade in my car without cutting it.
