Spring and shock options for f15 standard suspension.
14 50i m sport lowered on eibach pro kit, looking to reduce body roll. Are the billstein b6 shocks worth the money? Besides the kw coils, any body else running a different coilover? Silvers? Megan racing? Who all makes coil overs for the f15 with standard suspension? I had h&r springs but the ride was way too harsh for me. I like the ride quality of the eibach but just need a little more performance out of it.

I did search and didn't find the answers I was looking for. Really looking for someone who has experience with the b6 shocks and if they are worth the $1k price. But thanks for your incredible insight.

I've done a lot of research. This is what I'd do, seems like best bang for the buck.

Also, just searching for 'coilovers' gives at least on the first results page: https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ight=coilovers https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ight=coilovers https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ight=coilovers

FWIW, I just installed B6 shocks/struts on my E46 M3 convertible with stock springs. It is considered one of the best stock replacements for the E46 M3 if you're just looking to refresh the suspension and get a small improvement in handling as well (it's valved differently than stock and handles smaller bumps better). I would imagine the reputation for the M3 means it would also be an excellent choice for the X5.
It has internal bump stops and if the suspension is already compressed a little (i.e. in your case, because you're lowered), you may have less travel than stock before getting to them. There are instructions from Fat Cat Motorsports (SF Bay Area suspension tuner that loves modifying Bilstein shocks and helping get to perfectly balanced suspensions) on how to open them up, and even in the M3 application people usually cut 1" off of the softer section of bump stop. |
