I actually reached out to BMW NA to see if they would give service credit given the issue... No dice. |

Suggestions needed. Go to a official BMW dealer, a dealer in New England, or DIY? I don't think I'm willing to pay this much. It's absurd. My X5 is 2014 and has only 67K miles.

I just had my lower left control arm and BJ replaced under my extended warranty. Total cost was $1200 Canadian at the local dealer. I had the squeek over low speed bumps. 106K KM on my 2015.
If I were you, I would DIY. The cost savings alone are huge and its not an overly hard job assuming you can get the vehicle up high enough and have tools required to break the higher torque suspension components and have worked with balljoint before. You would definatly save money. Just make sure you check your alignment after. |

why not get fully assembled parts and just have your pet or toddler do it? If you don't have a pet or toddler you can do it while you sleep.

You're the reason I even have a thought of DIY. I saw your post and it was so detailed and simple that I thought why not just DIY. Thanks for that thread!!!

What's the symptom of the lower control arms (or the bushings) needing replacement?
On my previous car (a Range Rover Sport) I had the LCA replacement done at 80,000kms when it started clunking on low speed bumps, entering driveway et cetera. On my X5 at 75,000kms I have no such clunking, but I do hear squeaky sounds coming from underneath the car on slow bumps when driving with the windows open... |

In addition to the squeaks, when the front 'trust arm' bushings begin to fail, while braking you may feel pulsation as if the rotors are warped. Also the front tires wear on outside faster than normal, esp. the 20" and larger ones.

I just took a trip to the mountains and now it's screaming at me. Pisses me off. Can't get 40k miles out of a control arm is pathetic. Wish I bought the first one from FCP. Next one will for sure be from FCP.

Bushings
Is it better to replace the thrust arm or just do the bushings? Knowing that you will have to replace it again down the road. What bushings y'all recommend and from where?
Thanks |
