F15 Remote start recommendations: 2020 edition

Ive searched and searched and cant find a definite answer.

What are you guys using for remote starts? Everything i've found only goes up to 2013 X5s, not F15s.

I'm looking for specific brands/part numbers.

I'd obviously prefer a key-free solution if one exists and also as plug-and-play as possible.

To my knowledge there isnt anything.

I was once told the Flashlogic FLRSBM1 for the 2015 X6 would work, but its not listed on their website anymore. I know it used to be listed last spring because I was waiting for someone on a FB page to install theirs and confirm if it worked but they never did.

Looked through all these and that BMW part has been made inoperable due to BMW updates...which is why it’s no longer available which is why I started this thread.

You still can get it used, pops up on ebay from time to time and get it to work. Another option is made by Clifford, they offer one way and two way systems for F15:

Exactly what I was gonna say. I know at least one member ran Clifford and it worked. Need to lose a spare key though. Well with all these systems actually.

Yes there is no bypass you need to keep the key in the car, I think this is one of the reasons why BMW stopped selling the their remote control, due to security and legal issues.

I recently had a Eurostart remote start installed and added the drone mobile option in my 2016 X5. Had to give up a fob (remote not key) but yes, they do exist. Now I just need a replacement remote and hopefully I can eBay it and reprogram myself.

The factory remote can also start the car by pressing the lock button three times and holding the third time. The range is whatever the factory remote offers though.

Where did you do that and how much did you pay for it?

Do you happen to know the part numbers? This seems like a good option.

Well it looks like the cheapest/best option puts remote start in the $1500-2000 range which is entirely too much. I'll just walk out to the car and start it.

Not something you can do in the dead of winter when your car's stuck under two foot of snow. You sure you don't want jump into a toasty warm car?

Luckily we only have to deal with a max of 6-8"of snow at a time. If this was a $500-$800 self install it'd be worth it. But when you have to have 3 modules, a spare key programmed, & professional install its just doesnt make financial sense.

When you have to run a spare key, does the vehicle always use that key and its profile even if you dont use the remote start? I would assume that key is always picked up by the comfort access first.

That key will not have a battery installed. Otherwise, on the comfort access cars you will not be able to lock the car with the keyfob inside.
