Managed to snap quick iphone pics, sorry for dirty car and dirty wheels - I'll give it a good wash and wax when I'm done. This is not finished yet, still need to paint rims black (imho black rims look best on white car), but very busy currently with studying and exams, so it will have to wait couple weeks

Car is on 20 inch rims (they are too small IMHO)

So total expenses:
1. E70 X5M front calipers (used) $800
2. Front rotors F85 X5M 395mm $564 (could have saved money and went for cheaper aftermarket drilled ones, but when I found out cheaper aftermarket option already ordered oem, so it was too late and cumbersome to deal with returns, so I stayed with oem F85 rotors)
3. Stop Tech 345mm rear rotors drilled and slotted - part# CENTRIC 12734095R and 12734095L $180 (for 50i stock calipers): rockauto sells them for $118 each (unfortunately price increased a bit): http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/b...hub,rotor,1896
4. VHT Caliper paint kit $50 (it's not a kit really, just a 3 spray cans and sand paper) - painted both front and rear calipers (rears painted to match fronts)
Total for project: $1594 (if I bought cheaper front rotors it could have been even less)
Install costs including brake flush and coding: $450 (ouch, but I went for it - I don't have garage and I had little time to do it between exams)

I think this mod improves looks a lot - it makes x5 stand out as not every car has upgraded brakes AND it improves performance (I still need to drive it a lot on my usual route to check it, but I did several stops and it brakes easier/faster than before)

I'll post pics of it as soon as I get it wrapped - the shop that painted it - did a poor job and there are bubbles noticeable on black paint - I can't drive in a BMW with a crappy paint job roof spoiler So decided to wrap it in CF or black - and will post images when I get it done. It looks good from behind too

The "blackness" around the wheel walls though simply emphasizes the need to lower it..gap is really pronounced..next project perhaps?

Haha, yes, it never ends I'll definitely get to that in time, just need to catch a brake - mod money is exhausted at this point and study is priority right now, but you are right - ideally it needs bigger rims and Eibach springs to begin with, but my wife will kill me for sure, so I'm taking time out for now

If you do get to buy it from him, please ask him to pad shipping box with some padding material, especially in the middle of the box - it's a prolong box and spoiler can develop a crack in the middle - the reason is that box is thrown by various workers at the JFK airport and often they throw big boxes on top of that one

I have been in touch with him on viber for a year now.. Ruble continues to slide against dollar, so it costs more and will prevent me from spending more on other mods.

Oh yeah, you do what is best for you man, everyone is different, do those mods that you think are essential and within your budget. That spoiler is $422 plus $100 shipping - not cheapest I agree. Plus count in painting or wrapping that spolier - keep in mind it comes unpainted, but ready for paint
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rear-Roof-S...72.m2749.l2649

IMHO best mods are wheels - they can make or brake car appearance. Everything else comes second IMHO. I made mistake and went with 20 inch rims, it's cost prohibitive now for me to swap them to 21 or 22, but maybe in the future

Will be approaching 8K in mods after my M Sport conversion in early April.
If I didn't have to pay for a Master's degree + car loan payment, I'd spend more. It's good that wife does not know much about cars, so I can easily hide the real cost!

OMG - that's serious man. I think we need to draw a line after which to just make piece with current state of car, otherwise this mod bug is going to kill us

Not advocating to spend outside means but going to OEM 21"s alone is $5k+ so $8k total probably isn't that unusual. If you love it you'll own it longer.

It's the enthusiasm bug for sure.
I bought it really cheap and cut back on other expenses to accommodate...50 model is much more expensive and would not be able to afford the combo.
Plus, I will keep till it dies -from a financial stand point-, i.e. not worth maintaining it.
Will not be looking into G05...or any other model for that matter.
This is my car for the next 10 years minimum.

I think that's the same caliper (Brembo one) for E70 X5M. It's same part, but differs by color. Until 04/2012 they were produced in black color, and after 04/2012 BMW changed color to blue - that blue one BMW now sells as a MPBK for f15

I may be wrong, but I think this is the story

It is noticeable, especially at highway when I applied brakes hard

i assume you used your old brake pads ,right ? So, they fit in the brembo caliper ? interesting ...bigger rotors ,same old pads ? Hm , i thought the the pads should be larger

Hi Vlado, no the thing is when I bought calipers from E70 X5M they already came with everything - since it was a take off from salvage yard 2012 X5M with 60k miles - so it had BMW oem pads in them already. I guess X5M guys maintain their vehicles top notch
Please see pics attached below (dirty calipers and then washed by me - you can see large square pads for brembo calipers)

P.S. when i installed tech said they were like 80% left ( so I decided to keep them instead of buying new) - that's for me 1-2 years of driving lol (I don't drive much due to constant study process - I'm in med.school and have no life basically, except modding x5 and exams lol)

Good job.
One critic from me if you don't mind.
For that price, you could've get a whole set if MPBK, of course without the X5M rotor.

F15/F16 X5/X6 MPBK is the same system as the stock E70/E71 X5M/X6M brakes.
When I did mine at first, I bought a whole used set of E71 X5M freshly painted for less than MPBK price.

Yes, essentially it makes sense to just get MPBK since you get a new set and bigger rear rotors too. For majority MPBK is a better option - because it's new and will be warranted by BMW if installed in dealership.

I only went with used calipers and F85 rotors to save some buck and get that drilled rotor looks. It's still cheaper for me - I got it all for $1600 (including drilled rotors) vs $2500 MPBK + drilled rotors on top of that = north of $3000
So I saved almost half the money. However, you are right - it required me to buy all components separately, that takes time and I have no warranty on them now - so there's pros and cons as always

I'll correct my statement. You are right on the MPBK price, for a second I thought it was less than $2000. Haha.
So, you are saving a lot of money.
