Updating North America Maps 2019-1

Hi!

I have 2015 F15 (x5 35d) with the Navigation system.

I have an FSC code and am preparing to upgrade my maps to North America 2019-1. I think I have the "Professional" maps according to Bimmertech (vs. the "Business" maps). Do I need to install "Road Map North America NEXT 2019-1" or is there a Professional/Premium version of the maps??

Will I lose features if I install the incorrect version?

Thanks!!

Meaning that the "Road Map North America NEXT 2019-1" is the correct one?

Is that the Professional one? How do I know that? Not trying to disagree, just concerned about screwing something up...

Thank you!

Yes, 'Road Map North America Premium NEXT 2019-1' is the current & correct one.

What is the release cycle? Just wondering if I should get the update now or if the next one comes out fairly soon and just wait for the next one instead?

get the 2019-1 now, then get the 2019-2 when it comes out (i assume mid year). there is no point to waiting. it's a 1 hour torrent download, and the lifetime FSC is 5-10 dollars on ebay (I just bought it 2 days ago).

I guess I'm a bit resistant to BitTorrent because of virus risk. Am I the only one to feel that way? I have an iMac.

I downloaded the files via torrent yesterday and it was fine....on my macbook.

But use a windows laptop to create the USB drive.... format in NTFS first, then put the files on the root.....

Read my drive with no issues once i did that.....shame I'm waiting on the FSC code as the generator ones wouldn't work.

NTFS? Obviously it worked for you. Many have said FAT32 only, although I've read several comments how NTFS was fine.

I'll give it a try, thanks.

I have the FSC code and the maps on a USB. I plugged the USB in - should I get any notification that the system detected the Map update? Or does it install and then notify?

In other words, how do i know it's working?

If all files are there and in correct format, once you start the car and have the usb in, it will notify you that the update is starting and will ask for the code.

Make sure the usb is all the way in and run the engine the whole time you are doing the update.

Okay, so I got the USB working and the update installed. However, the system never asked me for the FSC code. I have checked the navigation, verified that the version shown was the latest and everything seems to be working fine. Even checked a local business that routed to the old address in the previous version of Maps installed and it now routes to the latest location. So all seems okay...

Any guesses why I wasn't prompted for the FSC code? Should I be concerned by this? Thanks!

Lucky you! Someone updated with lifetime code before, therefore no code required this time or in the future.

Go to this thread and post at the end requesting the links for the FSC code generator. Or, you can PM kretzu directly and ask him for the links. You will get a PM with two links. One contains a ZIP file of the programs you need to produce a FSC code, the other is 7-zip, a program used for unzipping ZIP files. Download both of them.

Install 7-zip, if needed.
Unzip/extract the other file.
Open the folder you just created.
Open the "Tutorial - how to.pdf" and follow the instructions to produce a FSC code. If it's your first time, you will need the "B tutorial".

After you have your FSC code(s):

Go to this link to get the torrent file for the most recent map update (18.2).
You will need a program like qBittorrent to download the entire 19.8Gb map package.
After downloading it, extract it to a 32GB or larger USB drive, turn on your car and insert the drive.
Follow the prompts on the iDrive.
The link you provided at the bottom doesn't work anymore, is there any way of figuring out the latest map version as of today? I'll be buying the enet cable as well.
