Anyone have a BM3 Tune???
Has anyone here gone to a BM3 (bootmod3) tune? I did a search but didn't come up w much. I was going to wait to get my MPPK but from what I've read this is an actual flash time that delivers great results on other BMWs. Just wondering if anyone has some insight for the F15. I understand that the MPPK is popular but that was to keep the warranty for most. I'm out of warranty so now I'm considering this instead of the MPPK. It's 600 vs 1k plus install...not looking for a piggyback option I've read a lot of mixed results for all of them.
Thanks in advance |

I have the Stage 1 flash on my 50i. No real world performance results yet. But I did manage a Dragy run of 0-60 in 4.02s. Drives like stock other than more power...
I do have a JB4 I'm going to install as well so I can compare the two. I'll respond with how that goes when I get around to it. |

There's a big tune thread with reviews on most of the tunes.

Yeah I saw that but I didn't see any info on BM3
I did a search and it brought back "and" as a search result lol so I did it again and I still found very little info. I'm just trying to see if anyone had the actual tune along with an update on how it's worked out in the long run. |

I have the stage 1 93octane tune on my 3l. I only had the car for a few weeks before tuning it, but I'm very happy with it. I came from a F15 x3 with the same engine (just a lot lighter car), and this feels notably faster. Might do the downpipe for the hell of it and extra power. The great thing IMO about this company is for another $50 (over the initial fee) you get access to all their street tunes. Was very happy with the customer service too.
A friend uses them for the tune on his M235i Race and loves the results too. |

hey bud,
similar situation as you. I just posted about this... I got the MPPK for 350 plus 125 to install (doing it tomorrow or fri). It was hard to pass... but if it wasn't for that, I would have gone with bm3. for 600 bucks, you're getting what they say about 70hp and 100tq. That's pretty significant... (20%hp and 30% tq) you're getting twice the performance for half the price. People mention MPPK improves on shift points, burble etc, but honestly shift points, throttle remapping improves driving experience. bm3 just adds power. might not feel it but you will see it in the numbers. That being said, in my opinion (not having experienced them, but what I researched...) MPPK for improved driving experience Bm3 for improved 0-60 and 1/4 times. I will never race or drag this thing, so honestly a $470 MPPK sounds like a better deal to me, but I just got lucky. lol |

Have BM3, previously had RC. Worth it in my opinion. Makes eco-pro drivable and sports mode really enjoyable.

In a nutshell:
RC is a piggyback tune. It simply intercepts the signal from the boost sensor(s) and modifies it. It relies on the vehicle to adjust fuel, spark, timing, etc within stock parameters. BM3 is a flash tune. It completely reprograms the engine computer(s) with new boost tables, fuel tables, timing, etc. Therefore, it achieves greater gains and in a safer way than a piggyback. Plus, it is custom configurable and provides the ability to data log and read/clear codes.

Plus when you have bm3 and you want more then ... then install supporting mods and and retune your car for more. You can not just keep turning up the boost and expect more. Every engine has a crosss over when it just gets expensive and reliablity suffers. Mppk if warranty matters and bm3 if you don’t have or care about warranty.

I originally liked RC Ultimate on setting C. It provided dyno proven results of 50HP and 50 ft/lbs. Midrange torque was impressive and overall I was very happy. Over time however, I started to have some minor issues that I didn't like. Specifically, low to medium throttle transmission up-shifts were clunky and not very refined. In addition, I was starting to experience a slight engine rumble/bucking during low rpm, high load situations such as trying to pass someone on the highway without downshifting. Both of these issues went away with the removal of the RC.
Since the application of BM3 (I went with Stage 1, 91 octane to be conservative) I have had no issues, even with stock plugs at 20k+ miles. Power is impressive, and maximum boost targets have been in the range of 20-21psi with BM3 (I was seeing 14-15 stock and 16-17 with RC Ultimate). I plan to dyno it again in the spring to prove output. After installation, I did some data logging and submitted the logs to PTF. They went through 5 revisions to dial in the tune for me. This wasn't a custom tune, but they did tweak the OTS tune for my car. Their customer service is awesome.

yup. will be charing 125 for it. We're aiming for tonight. He already pulled the code (so it worked). Just will install on my computer now
back on topic though... bm3 from everything I've gathered in my research, unless you have warranty, then MPPK. I started a thread about this, and even though it didn't get many replies, it seems clear less power more money for MPPK vs more power less money for bm3. I haven't heard any bad stories with bm3 either. 20-22psi on bm3 huh? wow that's alot of boost. I wonder what mppk boost is. |
