x6 M50d - F16 MY18/UK query

I am just about to buy one and got some queries please:

- what color code is the diffuser? looks like satin chrome to me
- OEM tyres : Dunlops Maxx GT or P zeros?
- engine oil : which twin turbo? or which Castrol?
- HK sounds seems a bit fake . Upgrades : BavSound or BimmerTech?
- service plans : I got a deal for £880 from BMW . Worth it ?
- brakes : OEMs or EBCs/ATE?
- adblue: is it the same as for my G11?

Many thanks

Ps. I wanted an X5 M50d but after seeing around 23 cars I gave up as they;re all run down. The x6 I found is 11k miles , 1 owner , BMW services. I got some things to update/upgrade.

Service plan: depends (obviously). If you're going to have it dealer serviced, then you'll typically save some by paying up front (with the service plan). If you're going to service yourself or at an indie, then maybe not such a good idea. How long does the plan run for and what servicing falls due in that window? Dealer should be able to tell you the cost of that servicing if you pay as you go.

Brakes: OEM are good products. Good life and stopping power (they're heavy vehicles) but people have complained of the volume of dust generated, so have gone 3rd party

Can't help with the rest. Enjoy your car

AdBlue: AdBlue is AdBlue.

Thanks for your answers.
The Service Pack is for 2 full services , incl AC refill, free maps/software, car wash.

What 3rd party brakes ? Zimmermans? EBCs?

Hmmm. Services normally alternate between oil and full, with full services years apart. Brake fluid change every 2 years as well. AC refresh/refill: never had it done in 5 years of ownership (always dealer serviced) with no problems. Map updates are available free with the help of members on this forum. RTTI (traffic) is £50 a year from BMW. Car wash is free every time they look at the car (even for MOT). I'd ask them what the cost of the scheduled services would be for the duration of the service pack validity

Oil: liquymoly molygen 5w30, change every 10k miles, 8k even better
Service plan: if that a bumper to bumper then it's worth every penny, otherwise check the details
Brakes: stick with oem. If you need more performance from the brakes, you're getting a wrong car
Audio: check the settings first, HK is very decent.

Oil "change every 10k miles, 8k even better". I assume devlinsky is from the USA. I was amazed when living in the US how frequently people there change their oil. Cost, I'm sure, is as much a factor as prudence: oil and servicing was cheap as chips in the US, not so in the UK.

I'm now at 78k miles on my '14 F15 40d and have only ever had the oil change when it's been 'due'. No issues and I don't believe I'm dodging bullets. No doubt some may flame me, but that's my experience, and view: thought I'd share it. Wouldn't want you being put off a car purchase by the thought of having to change oil every 8k miles

So I got the car only today. Bmw messed me around few times and I was so so so close to pull out and get the GLE 43.
I got it serviced, new mot, 2 new keys, software and maps updates.

I will play with the car this weekend and report back with my findings and grins

The 7th stays as it's an amazing car.

Congratulations on the purchase, you will love the ride and have a constant grin on your face from the torque and pace of this vehicle!
Any questions on the M50d I would be happy to help
It’s a shame as my X5 M50d was up for sale but in the end I’ve just done a PX deal with my dealership for an X7 M50d. Needed a bigger car for a family of 5 with two large dogs
Enjoy!

Oh man! One of my work colleagues have the x7 50d . I drove it and liked it but it's way too big for me and my family: wife, 1 toddler, 1 lonely fish and some insane flies around the house.

I got the x6 as I had it as hire car in Germany for 2 weeks and loved it. This is my fun car now. So far I love it
I would have some questions if possible please. Thanks in advance.

Update after 6 months and 11600 miles driven.
What I liked :
- the power and speed on Sport+ (autobahn was great at 142mph )
- good driving position makes you feel safe
- HK sound is good to
- nice ride in Comfort
- decent mpg taking into account the mad power
- soft close doors
- the boot and the underside additional room

What I didn't like :
- no feel at all through steering wheel
- the AC always on and smelly (bmw replaced the filters and new gas 4 times and it was the same)
- wind noise at 70mph+ ; even with new Dunlops maxx gt was the same
- interior quality is like a 3 series and is far behind the G06
- adaptive leds : they flood the road and they're slow around corners
- high insurance : £56/month with Aviva but for a x5m50d would've been £37. why?
- the apple car play looks a bit dodgy. It looks far better on my G11.

All in all is it indeed a great car no doubt! But it will go next week

Next ? Probably a 21 plate Tiguan R petrol

Tiguan after X6? You've lost some bet, I suppose…
