I installed a carplay box and got rid of being dependent on BMW and career supported technology.
RTTI is really bad in NYC greater area.

I've had my mmi for about a year now, it's great. But, at least for those of us with hybrids, the climatize function also gets the hybrid battery to a more optimal temperature.

Ill try the upgrade tonight and report my findings, hopefully they discount a 4g combox upgrade for those of us that want one. I have a F15 40e and like to cool off or heat the car up remotely or check the battery charge status, amongst other critical features.

I updated my car via connected drive and it appeared I have the service now. I drove 8 hrs from SoCal to NorCal and not once the system gave an updated traffic status. 👎

I updated my M3 and wife’s X5 several times over the past few days. Still nothing works. I wrote the assist folks an email two days ago as indicated in the BMW instructions if the reset doesn’t work. So far: crickets.

I’ll post anything I find out.

I did my update 3 days algo and it did not work (RTTI). I left it alone. Today, it's working 👍🏽

No, I don't pay for RTTI nor am I subscribed. BMW is giving it complimentary so now I have it, due to the shutdown while they figure out the final word. I just hope it's not a... well, you took the complimentary service... 😅

Yeah, mine literally took 3 days to start working. I didn't bother calling the BMW number. It's working like a charm today. I did also turn off the RTTI satellite receive option, waited a while, then turned it back on. Try that, but ultimately give it time and it should work.

Of course, not insulting anyone's intelligence, but I'm sure you'd have to have active subscription to one of their services for it to work. Like, if none of your features worked before, then I don't think this freebie will apply.

When I go to the store using Connected Drive in the car it just show the message with QR code that my services are no longer available.

From your iDrive menu, go to Connected Drive, then press the "Option" button by your iDrive controller and select "Update BMW Assist"

After I did this, it took a day before RTTI and online search went back online.

I am highly annoyed with the discontinuation of ConnectedDrive services as I like to have RTTI, even though it doesn't seem to be as accurate or as timely as Google Maps. But I prefer to use the iDrive navigation rather than CarPlay through an MMI box because I like getting the turn-by-turn directions in the HUD.

It looks like we may be able to still receive traffic info into the head unit through TMC data that could be received from a SiriusXM subscription. These are the coding instructions I found on another forum:

TI_TMC = aktiv
TI_CA_TMC = aktiv
TI_TPEG = nicht_aktiv
TI_CA_TPEG = nicht_aktiv
TI_TMC_REGIONAL = aktiv
TI_TRAFFIC_INFOMAP = aktiv
NAVI_TRAFFIC_INFO_MAP = aktiv

Perhaps someone without an active ConnectedDrive subscription and with a SiriusXM subscription (with traffic) could try it out and see if it works. I don't want to set up a SiriusXM subscription just to test this one thing.
