Hitch Wiring - Module injection / Coding? Error on dash.

So I just wired up the OEM Module and OEM Harness onto the X5. Everything went great and I tested it on a friends 4 pin trailer and all lights are working.

That being said, I am getting a "Trailer Electrical System" warning on the dash. Check Control shows "Malfunction. Check trailer lamps." Not a trailer lamp malfunction, bulb overload or anything.

I've seen and read all the various threads regarding install and found some conflicting info.

Some people have reported no issues or warnings using OEM and some have said that coding is required and fixed their problems. I am a bit confused as to why for some its one way and some its another. I was expecting no warnings.

Just looking for any other thoughts before I pay $300 to have CodeMyCar do his thing. I've re-plugged the CANbus connector in again a few times. All the fuses that I am aware of are in the right spots. Pin 8 and 21 had to be in the right spot as it was the only avail option for the connector.

I triple checked everything before plugging them in.

Thanks all.

edit - ripped it all apart and double checked all the wiring. no issues or wrong wiring that I saw.

It needs to be coded. Once coded, the errors will go away.

E-trailer hitch and wiring

If you use say the clamp over type harness from i believe E-trailer, will you still get these same code errors?
