On Cape Cod, we don't typically need winter tires until around Thanksgiving. I'll post when I get them put on.

I usually wait until mid December to put mine on. Depending on how low the temperatures get, I might put them on sooner.

The way the Contis were marketed, I assumed they were winter tires. Did not realize they are all-season!

I guess I over generalized. With my previous X5s, I didn't have to switch tires as they come with all-season. The DWS was better than the RFT Duns that came with it. With the X5M, it comes with summer tires so it's unsafe to drive any any winter condition under 40 degrees. It's a fun car so I would want summer tires when it's warmer.

It only snows 5-6 times per year in KC (vary from 1 to 12"), so it is overkill to roll around with full blown winter tires for the days that are cold and there aren't ice/snow on the ground. I find that DWS with X5s accelerate normally and stops/turns pretty well on ice and snow. You're right, it's a jack of all trade tires and DWS would be the top pick for winter driving all-seasons.

I love summer tires, but hate winter tires. Winter tires are noisy, ride rough, and have short life. With DWS, it's extremely quiet, rides smooth, and last easily 40k miles on the X5.

Let's put it this way, you'll never going to be stuck with an AWD and DWS (see EVO with DWS vid below). You just have to keep in mind that your stopping distance isn't as great as true winter tires so you have to use common sense when it's icy/snowy. The DWS, however, night and day better than the E70's OEM RFT Duns all-seasons for all around performance.

My tire dealer propose me a set of Brock BS32 9.5x20 front and 10.5x20 rear with Pirelli Scorpion winter 285/40R20 106V XL
What do you guys Thing?
Did you hear something about those wheels?
Honestly, I can't find any information on their Website that they will fit the F85.

Thanks for your help!

The answer is probably yes since the wheels they are proposing are narrower than the OEM summer wheels. However, you can't be sure without the wheel offsets and a test fit. I would make sure your dealer guarantees the wheel fitments for you just in case there is a problem with the profile. I would also make sure to ask for information on the wheel load capacities. The wheels on the rear axle should have a minimum load rating of 850kg each as far as I remember.

Got my winters put on today.

Got the Vossen VFS-2 in graphite. Sizing: 20x10.5et27 rear and 20x9.0et35 front. I originally ordered 20x10 for the front wheels but the only offset available was a +45 and that resulted in contact between the spokes and front calipers.

Originally was looking for Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4's in 275/40R20, but, couldn't find a set pretty well anywhere. Decided to go with the Latitude Xice 2 instead. I imagine they'll good on snow and ice, I'll see how they do on dry pavement.

Here are a few pics, I'll try to take more with a real camera next time it's clean.

I ordered a set of these, should arrive mid-November. Just after my vehicle, I think.

Congrats! I think you'll be pleased with them. I couldn't be more pleased with mine. I've said a few times to friends recently that this is the first time in recent memory where I am actually looking forward to installing my winter set. I think they are incredibly stylish with the dark grey metallic finish.

It took a while to track them down, but I finally had my winter's installed last week. The 20's and Pirellis should be lots of fun in the snow.

Is that merely an excellent photo or did you have some kind of paint treatment done? Looks amazing.

Did the leather protectant change the feel of the seats?

Thanks guys. I am amazed every day how much I love driving this car.

As for the leather protectant it didn't change the coloring at all. It definitely helps with water droplet discoloration if you spill or get rain on the door inserts. It just beads up and can be wiped off. Worth a thought.
