Thinking of buying a 2017 X5

So...I am an active member on the forums and have been a BMW owner for many years. Currently I have a F80 M3, F31 SW and my wife drives a 2013 x5 35i.

I'm in the market to replace the X5 for a newer X5. I need some advice from this forum of what is a fair price to offer the dealer?

The car is a 2017 X5 35i (CPO) with 29k miles. VIN:5UXKR0C39H0V73624 and includes the following packages

PREMIUM PACKAGE
DRIVING ASSISTANCE PACKAGE
COLD WEATHER PACKAGE

The dealer is asking $40,891 which I think is too high. What do you think this car should go for?

As much as opinion is appreciated, please share actual experience or examples, I think this will help me negotiate the best deal.

Thanks for your help.

That price seems a bit high, given the spec. Have you looked it up using Kelly Blue Book? Mine has a few more miles but quite a few more options and the Blue Book says retail value on mine is about $36K. Maybe they've left themselves quite a bit of room to negotiate on that price and you could get it for $34K...?

I was just recently able to get a cpo 2017 x5 35i with 30k miles with all those packages with the addition of 3rd row, hk, ventilated front seats, and 20inch oem rims for less.

if I didn't care for 3rd row, I'm sure I could have saved another 2-3k. 2rows are much easier to find.

pm me if you want more info.

I just paid 38k for a 2017 X5 x35i 29k miles. Cold weather + premium pkg + drivers pkg + drivers plus + multi contour seats + Harmon kardon.

Looked for about 3 weeks and thought it was a pretty good deal. CPO with warranty running through Dec 2021. Price was non negotiable but from everything I saw was under market.

Have had it for two weeks so far and very happy with it.

What is the in-service date? Could range from late 2016 to mid 2017, impacts length of CPO coverage and hence cost.

FWIW when we were in the market dealers simply would not negotiate on CPOs. Sellers market for CPO X5s here in greater DMV region. Also somewhat hamstrung b/c wife had to have DA+ option. If there's no timeline you could always wait for a private party sale. There were none when we were looking but of course one popped locally a few weeks after we bought.

Is the car a two year lease trade-in? Suggest you get the residual, then compare sales price to that number. That's how I know we got at least a decent deal - paid a little less than BMW says the car is worth after end of initial lease. GL.

My challenge is, my Wife won't drive a car with dark interior(blk, brown etc.). She'll only drive beige or oyster which means the options are limited. CPO ends in 2022 on the car I'm looking at. In addition BMW is offering $1250 on CPO + loyalty.

I think I got a decent deal. Now I gotta get them to take care of me on my trade.
