I never understand why people go for the compromise of all season (no season) tires. Summer performance and dedicated winter tires (for those of us who experience winter condition) makes so much more sense. With all seasons, not only is the handling compromised, but stopping distance is also inferior to summer or winter tires in their respective condition.
Hi Auto pal,

To answer this for you to help you understand: when you lease, all season is a good compromise for climates where it snows and there is ice- and in the middle of winter you get a stretch of days in the 50s and 60s. Winter tires are good colder than 40 degrees but burn on those warmer months and days when it shouldn't been that warm.

All season is a commuters dream-

Some people don't want to be replacing their tires every 20000km. There are some high performance all season tires like DWS 06 and they will last you more than most summer tires. Many have commented that the handling is not that much different and instead praise it to be quieter and smoother.
I have two sets of tires and i will be looking to change my summer tires to all season and still have a set of winter.
Love this- who makes DSW?

Confusing of sure because considerable changes for a model due replacement in 2019 is also hard to believe, I looked into if the F15 is due a facelift, and the answer I got in this forum as well as from my dealer was negative no information of any, road map documents published in this forum confirms the F15 replacement for 2019.

Yes, that's what I was told.

No, ordered a SE with Pure Experience exterior pack, which I have now been told can't be specced to a SE from Week 1 production, which is what I'm pissed about.

I take it, you are OK with the big increase in VED rate that comes into effect after beginning of April...as a Feb order means you'll be forking out a lot more over the next 5-6 years, unless its a company car order.

I absolutely agree with the benefits of snow tires but if you live in an area like mine where we only get 2 or 3 significant snowfalls per year and even those are usually something in the 4-6 inch range, all seasons are adequate enough to avoid the need for a dedicated winter set (especially on a heavy AWD car like the X5).

For the most part, everything shuts down the day of a storm so nobody needs to go out and most roads are back to black asphalt within 12 hours of the storm's conclusion.

Also, call me crazy but I can't see the difference between the contrast and non-contrast stitching. Those are really the best comparison pictures they could find?

Looking at the pics is just another reminder how wrong BMW got it with this gen X5/X6. Still prefer the older gen to these, and can't wait for the new one.

I'm amazed at how small some minds are ! It's truly impressive to see someone that can't comprehend situations outside of their own!

Dedicated Winter tires ? What are those ? I'm in TEXAS and haven't bought true winter tires since i moved here from INDIANA.

I'll be driving back home next month in my X1 and buying a set of all season tires ( Pirelli or the continental DWSO6 - I think a set of Pirelli sottozero might be overkill for winter in Indiana in December. )

Once back in Texas they might be needed to get me thru some light snow or an icy day or two before spring. I'll throw the 19s with extreme summer tires back on then.

Even goldilocks had THREE OPTIONS of porridge to choose from - not just hot or cold ( read: summer and winter ).

If you live in a climate with true winter- I agree- winter tires. But don't hate on all season tires just because they aren't something YOU can utilize... for some of us .. they are JUST RIGHT!

MY2017 x6 made Nov 2, still waiting.
Dealer said I cannot order Space saver tire. (Canada)
I thought in the US it shows on the online builder.

Of course there are country specifics, such as Canada has the 20" 597 style wheels.
Crazy they charge $1200 to change to 491 wheels.
One could select 19" without any price change.

You Should work this out with your dealer when the car is delivered, the 20" cost more and should get some money back when changes to 19”, the dealers will have no problems selling them with a car in the court yard, and swap the 19” over to yours providing they find some new ones. The worst scenario sell them privately after you purchase the 19" if your dealer not willing to help, it will be very low service if they not ready to do so.
Paying cash to downgrade is nuts from your side, but for BMW a step out of the production line and supply chain in place is simply an extra cost regardless of the material cost.

I'm not quite sure but are 20" standard in your X6 build? If it is then there should be no additional charge to change to 491 and can be easily dealt with the dealership. If you change to 19" they will most deff charge you less. That is only if 20" wheels are included in your build.

Sadly you can still get halogen lights and plastic seats as base....

At least Mercedes gives you the impression of leather with MB-tex, BMW Sensatec just looks like crappy seat covers.

Don't kid yourself, DWS06 are crap compared to the OEM summer RFTs. I learned the hard way.
