Launch control x6m/x5m gear question

Hello,

When i first got my x6m 3 years ago.. I did many launch controls and while the car changes gear i used to feel the pull hard.

Now when i Launch control it feels different and the gear keeps on shifting up with the loud sound of gear crack just like when u drive on D or M (sport+).


Not sure if this is normal or there is something wrong with the gear, anyone faced the same scenario before?

I took it to the dealer and they told me its totally fine but it doesnt make any sense to me.

What you're describing sounds normal but it's probably best you get video and post it so we can hear and see what you do when it occurs.

So when I have used LC as BMW intended, aka in manual shift, I noticed it shifts early for whatever reason. This leads to zero upshift noise. Now, using LC without manual shifting but everything else the same, I notice the gears ride all the way and bang on the upshift. The pull feels different between the two just a bit, but I need to compare with my draggy to know for sure.

I also find lc short shifts. Manually shifting results in harder shifts at the limit

I did use draggy and my best was 4.8 seconds 0-100km/hr with LC (exhaust crack noise while shifting up)

When i got my car 2 years back:

LC didnt have exhaust crack noise while shifting up and it felt much faster and the pulls are better on every gear.

Now LC have the exhaust crack noise while shifting up and so the pull doesnt feel better on every gear shift.

4.8 seems slow for this car...I think mine stock was just over 4s. When you use LC, you let the boost build for a couple of seconds and the checkered flag pops up?

Yes i do wait for the boost to fill up... and see the flag

Yes but there are times when you see the flag but you still don't build up enough boost so try to hold it for 1-2 seconds extra and hit it. All in all 4.8 is pretty slow I hope nothing else is wrong.

Somebody post some videos in here of good and bad launches along with sound and if the OP can post a video of what's going on with his vehicle that would be good as well.

Exactly should be no cracks... but i do have cracks and the weird thing is that it shifts automatically

in all honesty, do you guys not think you are gonna blow up your cars doing this? regardless of what bmw says, if it is in warranty go for it, but out of warranty i have no idea why you would want to launch control. maybe i'm getting too old.

It will shift automatically with launch control even though you are in manual. Weird at first. You get used to it. You'll get a big rev limiter surprise if NOT in LC but you THINK you are. Been there.

I do a lot of dig races. So I use it often. I don't see any issue with using it routinely. I doubt BMW would let the feature destroy the car overtime

Update:

I was talking to my friend about the issue im having with my launch control and have mentioned that i have recently changed from stock catback to akraprovic catback (used).

1st i had a problem with my flaps that they are stuck.
2nd my launch control is not performing well.

Now that the flaps are always on i still have the launch control issue.

But the issue could be that the vacuum line of the exhaust connected to the turbo is leaking! Thats why the exhaust flaps arent working and the launch control isnt working.

I will take the f86 tomorrow to the agency to discuss this issue. Will update you guys later also
