RR SVR vs X5M
I know this has been discussed in the past here but I'm curious if anyone has lately done a switch from an RR product, SVR in particular to the X5M/X6M or vice versa.
My lease is coming to an end and I test drove a 2019 RR SVR. It was completely blacked out and had over 20k in dealer installed carbon fiber options Probably the most impressive aspect was the sound of the RR supercharged V8 vs the biturbo V8 in the BMW. RR sound so mean and pops and crackles on downshifts. I think the ride quality of the SVR is way more comfortable than the BMW. Even with 22s vs BMW on 21s. Must be the air suspension that's just softer. Cornering is much better in the BMW, less body roll and feels more stable. BMW also feels much faster. I did enjoy the higher seating position in the RR and the interior felt and looked very nice. Big turn off was the whole infotainment system and instrument cluster on the RR. It's just so laggy and slow and feels at least 10 years behind BMW. And this is not even comparing to the latest iDrive 7. Curious to hear other opinions of members on here who have cross shopped both. I'm hearing horror stories about RR reliability particularly related to the whole software issue. |

I should also add that my wife had an RR Sport last year and the infotainment system would randomly just go blank/dead on her. When she called RR, their recommended course of action was to pull off the road, wait 10 minutes (ten minutes...on the side of the road...who recommends that to a woman driving alone in a car???) and then start up again.
We sold the car within 10 months. |

Sound like to you already make up your mind, If is a lease! Why not, do a 24 months lease and have some fun with it.
I was on the fence on RR SVR before. But as of a past RR owner. I quickly dismiss the RR LOL. My past RR ownership experience is not so great. Beside the dealer quote me $8k to install the roof rack and tow hitch because the inventory SVR does not have it install! |

Hard to believe, but there are people out there who see a young attractive woman sitting by herself in an $80k car who don't have the best intentions. Even at the remotest possibility of something bad happening, I wasn't willing to take that risk. Maybe I misunderstood your post. |

I'm about to sell my X5M soon but honestly bro I would say X5M all the way... I have 2 friends that have SVR's 1 is good and the other all he does is complain.

When exactly is your lease up? I still have another 22 mo on my x5M lease and I have already begun considering the replacement. I would consider the new Merc Gle 63 or new Gls over any Range (if you are going outside BMW). But the true amg gle won't be on sale until fall likely from what I've seen and the Gls amg version probably late next year, so timing wise these may not be options for you.

Based on all these comments here and my own experience I might reconsidering the RR and look for something else. I don't like the new X5 so I doubt it will be another M for me. I am excited to see the new GLE63 but given MB's track record new models are always late in the US and are stuck at the port forever (most recently new G63). |

Nice! My local MB dealer/buddy was driving a 2020 GLE450 the other day, first one I've seen in the flesh. I really liked it, thought the interior was well done. To me it definitely had more of a masculine styling than previous gen. Very curious to see both the 63s versions...the coupe especially.
