So is this tune untraceable by dealers? I removed the JB4 from my car cause it did nothing. Looking for something new but would hate to hurt warranty.
Thanks, Greg

Ok, just reverted it back to the stock tune. Total time was 8 minutes and that included turning the ignition off for 1 minute before starting instead of the 20 seconds it tells you to wait. Put the stage 1 tune back in 20 minutes later. I didn't time it but it took about the same amount of time. Voila!!!!
Importing the tune for the first time and then flashing takes the longest amount of time. I can't give you a good estimate because I was trying to import the tune while they were doing server maintenance last night, so it took awhile. Then I had some errors trying to flash. I was still seeing malfunctions on the dashboard after flashing, waiting 20 seconds and starting the car. I decided to flash again but I waited a full 5 minutes before starting the car and all the codes were gone. Everything worked itself out in the end. The support from the guys at bm3 is excellent. The guy I was emailing back and forth with the errors responded right away and was going to remote into my laptop while plugged into the OBDII but it didn't come to that. I would probably recommend the battery charger for the initial import and flash. I didn't have the battery charger hooked up last night for the initial install but it's definitely a good idea if you run into some trouble and it takes longer than expected. I used the battery charger today tho. I wonder if it's more about keeping steady voltage while it's doing its thing. |

I would also like to know? When I had my Cobb AP on my n54 it would leave no trace supposedly when flashing back to stock, but I would always wonder if the dealer can actually see how many times your Ecu had been flashed.

I'm not sure if any tune is actually "undetectable". If they're looking to deny you warranty, i'm sure they'll find it. I could be wrong

Does the $895 include the downloadable tune? Are there multiple different configurations/tunes to choose from? What is the claimed power gain?
Thx

Yes, it includes 1 OTS tune. 2 tunes available for the F15 50i. Stage 1 for stock vehicles and stage 2 for high flow midpipes. They told me it's 100 to 120 hp gain over stock. After driving the car for awhile... I don't doubt it.

BM3 looks like it also has many of the same benefits as those tunes. |

Seems a bit high, I would believe it by seeing dyno before and after numbers, just think that’s a little on the high side for just a flash no other mods. That’s would be like 80-90 whp increase.

Additionally, are tunes (stock and stage 1) downloadable to your local computer or are they only available through the cloud?

Not really. I got a 70 hp gain with just a tune on a supercharged mustang and about the same on my CTS- V. Both with no other mods. So being that this is a twin turbo vehicle... 100 hp doesn't seem far fetched.

I saw your earlier post, but what I was wondering is if you download and store the tune locally on your computer or do you have to have an internet connection and stream the tune while you are flashing?

Do you know how much higher the boost is then stock? Even if you were gaining 20-25 hp/ per lb of boost that’s a 4-5 psi increase sounds pretty high for not having any other mods to help out. But if it is then that’s great bang for your buck. I’m very familiar with turbo vehicles and what tunes and boost increase can do, I have owned n54 , GMC Syclone (for some older people that know what this is) and currently still have my evo8 running 30+ psi ( built 2.3 / fbo)

I would have to imagine these tunes (BPC went up 127hp on n63tu) are fairly comparable to each other and will be higher than the RC. My stage 1 tune on my 335i would dyno 350 or so over the 288rwhp it had stock with no other mods. I think it can handle a 60-70awhp increase just fine with out anything else. I read somewhere that stock 50i boost was 16psi. I imagine these tunes are taking that to around 20lbs targeted. I am debating on splurging on this soon after i get my plugs replaced which are misfiring. Then I can run the same analysis and see what it shows. It is about half as much as the other market tunes. |
