Sound of the exhaust should stir your soul

The one and only complaint I have is the exhaust sound is shyte, I want it to sound like a old school V8, it can be done because Mercedes have done it with their V8 and other car makers, I just don't like any of their models. Basically I agree with the attached article. I like a rumble sound (think McQueens car from Bullit maybe)....

I agree with you if not in Sport Plus on stock exhaust (since the valves are closed then). However, I threw a Eisenmann Race on and the TT V8 now sounds as it was meant to be, much like the old school V8s that we all love.

I had an S54 E46 M3 with a Scorza exhaust, Supersprint headers and mid-pipe. It was loud and loved to sing up into the revs, but the inline 6 can only do so much. That's part of the problem I think with the S55 engine, an inline 6 has limitations.

Maybe BMW should hire Yamaha (the music people), like Lexus did for the LFA, to design the exhaust. The LFA sounds like how F1 cars USED to sound like, a screaming high exhaust!

Drive with it in Sport Plus and floor it. It sounds excellent to me, and I'm used to a 120db Borla exhaust that was on my Porsche lol. If you want an exhaust that tingles your insides, buy a Jaguar F-Type R or SVR. Best production exhaust on any car. You can always install an aftermarket exhaust on the X6M like pachieh did. I opted to leave the exhaust stock on mine as I want to listen to my wonderful Burmester sound system while cruising on the highway without exhaust drone. And I don't care what anyone says... every aftermarket exhaust drones. Even the exhaust systems that specifically say they don't drone, still drone at a specific RPM, and it's usually the exact RPM you'll be cruising at while going 70 or 80mph on the highway lol.

The exhaust on my ‘10 X6 50i was sweet! The growl turned heads. I loved that beast. Not sure what they did but my ‘13 M didn’t even sound as mean.

I actually have an X5M...

Stock exhaust drones too, just not as bad as an aftermarket. I only heard mine on stock exhaust while cruising with ASD disabled and the windows open.
