Warranty about to end

I got '17 X5M and nearing 49.5k miles.

The car has had nothing but regular service, not a single mechanical breakdown.

I'm no mechanic but I've checked for leaks - didn't see any. No warning lights, nothing. The car still drives the same way as before.

Before I enter the out-of-warranty world, should I bring the car in for a check-up at our local dealer? If so, what should I have them check?

Thanks!

Yes, of course.

Everything.

Getting extended plan while still under BMW original warranty can save you big bucks, do it quick if you want to go that route.

Thanks, will definitely drop it off for checking it out.

Is extended warranty a must? What are the weak areas of this platform? Mine is '17.

I just had a steering column problem. Not resolved yet but others suggest that is 2k.

Suspension air bags are common too. Mine are just failing.

Not to hijack, but what is the average for an extended warranty and is there a time to pull the trigger? Any price breaks for a CPO vs a non CPO purchase?

i am going to be in the market soon and wanted to see whats out there.

Sorry OP.

CPO doesn't cover quite a few things not to mention, BMW has not only raised their prices but also decreased the time from 2 to 1 year.

I'd look into getting a quote from warranty like Fidelity or such big comapnies

Also you can ask your service adviser what companies they have had good experience with and get quotes from them too

I had warranty to 6 years/120K (Km) on a 2013 X6M... that warranty expired Dec 19...Nothing was needed during the two years extended warranty....

The only thing to fail in the period since, a month ago was my rear air bags... replaced with Arnott’s... total 400 Canadian dollars installed (pair)...

It’s a very subjective area.... Extended warranty. We picked up a new X3 M40i.... added two years extra again....And will probably wish I had not bothered...

Time will tell...

Yeah, it really is a crapshoot. I have a CPO warranty plus an extended warranty through MB on my 14 C63 Edition 507. I haven't used it once in three years. On my 15 F86 (23,600 miles), I have an extended warranty and have had a little over $6,000 in repairs done in the 9 months (about 3,000 miles driven) I've owned it. I've only paid about $600 of that amount in deductibles and tax. I've now had more repairs paid for then I paid for my warranty and the warranty has 3 years and 3 months left on it. So, for my F86, it was well worth it.
