So now, I am thinking of not doing rear caliper upgrade. Thought it would look great, Tro-nik wants almost $1000 for rear set up. I will just do the front caliper upgrade and keep stock rears and call it a day.!

I have the same setup as your at the moment (X5M caliper and rotors on the front and the 50i brake caliper and rotors) Been driving it for a several months now like this. It's not bad when braking normally, however I notice when braking moderately or hard you can feel the front brakes are doing most of the braking, ie nose dip, front tires begin to slightly screech (i have 20in staggered rims), ABS actuating when braking moderately. Comparatively to the 50i brake rotors the M rear rotors are quite a bit larger (X5m @ 385mm, 50i at 345mm in diameter). Keep looking around on the market for a set of the caliper and mounts. I have the x5m caliper and mounts but I've been having trouble deciding on which brand makes a good set of rear rotors.

Would a local Indy know how to do it? They are doing my brakes anyways. Waiting on new set to get powder coated and such. I can't decide what color to do it though 😩

This rear upgrade is designed to work with 385x24mm rotors Specifically... Rotor - Rear Right - BMW (34-21-2-284-904) Rotor - Rear Left - BMW (34-21-2-284-903) These DO NOT mount just up. These absolutely require adapters and modification of the calipers themselves |

Those look so good but I wish the rear kit was easier to get. I paid $500 for front calipers and tronik wanted about $1000 for rear setup without paint. Didn't seem advisable to me since x5m have small brakes in rear already. I might have to do this blue color too but maybe carbon gold

Nice! what were the Zimmerman part numbers you purchased? I will have to consider those at my next brake service. Which will be awhile since I just installed the ones that come with the M performance brake kit that I purchased for $2460 after taxes

Please lower your beast. That front wheel gap hurts my soul.

Doesn't seem to be sold in the US and the price I found on amazon UK seems insane. £567. Oem 2 piece are less.

Can we make this thread into a stickie please!
Also, I might go with classic red for calipers as I will be wrapping the car in nardo grey in spring time. Red will pop more than oem blue color |

Got everything done but pedal goes straight to the floor. I know I have to get it coded but it goes to the floor, stiff stiff, then back to floor. Thoughts? Or have to bleed them again ?
Update: Pedal feels better at third bleed but still missing. I called a few dealers near me and they have NO IDEA what I'm talking about. Is there any coders can help me remotely??? Please! Will pay obviously |

The thread explains exactly, step by step with screen shots how to code this. If you don't have the software, search and read how to get access. It's truly not rocket science. Like a majority of your posts, you want everyone to solve your problems for you and don't take the time to understand what you are doing. Oh wait, you posted above that you don't need to code the brakes after the install....hmmm, how did that work out for you? "My pedal is broken, can't drive, need help, will pay someone else to fix my stupidity!" Love it! |
