AC/climate issue after installing apple carplay unit in 2015 X5
Installed a top box carplay unit this past weekend.. after troubleshooting some issues, everything appears to be working EXCEPT my AC no longer blows cold air. Is it possible I accidentally disconnected something behind the head unit? Everything is very snug behind the head unit now because the idrive cable would only allow so much slack.
Any ideas on how I could troubleshoot this? |

Fixed the issue for now. No clue what the issue was, but after re-checking all cables, and doing a bit of cable management and tucking the car play box in a little more tidy, everything works. Now i fear that the next bump or hard turn I take will break it again. :|

Most likely the connector for the center air vent stratification control was not properly reconnected first time round :-)

Seems this issue is common
Just installed MMI Prime myself- AC not blowing cold, dash vents not blowing at all. Bottom vents blow but nothing but hot air. Additionally, couldn't navigate away from MMI back to Drive. Weird, cuz everything, including the AC was working fine last night. Was told by Bimmer-tech today it was possibly a blown fuse but then they send me a pic of a fuse box for a different model BMW altogether, which was a bit frustrating. Have half a mind to take the whole thing out to see if the AC will blow back in OEM but it's hard to get the connections out....pretty sure I've connected everything as it should be, but will redo the cables to be sure. Guess I'll wait to talk to Bimmer-tech Monday. Any additional insight is welcomed.

UPDATE: Cable management seems to be the watchword of the day. All is fixed and well in my world. NOw if I can figure out how to get my phone calls to go through my speakers, instead of the phone, I'd feel a bit better.

If you are having this issue, you didn't reconnect the wires properly. See the previous post. https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=27654018
Open the dash back up, and do it again! |

Hi guys, having a similar issue with my F31.
I installed the MMI, AC is not blowing cold air. Actually not sure if it‘s related to the MMI install, because first warmer days just started in Germany, I might not noticed before. So AC is blowing medium cold air on driver side, on passanger side not cool at all. Aditionally i removed the MMI and plugged everything again nice and tight —> still same issue. What you guys think? Related to MMI install? Regards, Tmae |

I’d solve your AC problem first, uninstall MMI and remove it, ENSURE you have connected all wires properly, then get your AC working. Once working (I’d start with a simple AC recharge - worked for me when I had warmish air) - get back to your MMI install. |
