Exhaust system MOD

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Gents,

I've had good luck with a local shop modding my exhaust systems rather than spending 3-5K from other companies. This time is no different. The factory system has respectable 3 inch pipng but then it goes into IMHO a heavy complicated muffler setup. I had them cut out the factory muffler setup and replaced with 3 inch straight pipe. It sounds a little deeper but with an awesome growl. Not so load as to disturb a neighbor or the PD. Plus u lose about 55 pounds form factory system. No engine lights from removing the electronically controlled flaps either.

This is old exhaust but NOT the piping.

Crap, how do I reuce the size/memory of these pics. grrr.

I'm on it, it gives an AWESOME gurgle sound that has a hint of deepness to it without being obnoxious

I'll post some sound clips

Does it drone around 1.5-2k RPM? I did something similar on my old F10 550 and it droned in that range which made me go back to the factory muffler setup.

I'm not getting any drone, the factory resonators were left on and it sounds deeper with a satisfying burble.

Confused but very interested. Downpipes/cats to two seperate resonators to what? Straight pipes right out the back? Must sound great. Pls post pics from underneath if you can.

Are there any flaps on the x5m exhaust? Any easy mods that can be done to keep the flap open like in the m6 and m5?

Anyone remove those secondary (post sensor) cats? Popular mod on the N54- was typically good for 3-5% increase in power.

I figured I'd try. Looking at a straight pipe set up as well...
