Winter Tire question
Ok if we remove all costs here, in your opinion is it better to get the 20" winter tire package or get winter tires for my 21" rims now.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated. 2016 X6M not daily driven. Thx |

I just went through this same struggle.
I ended up just getting the 21” winter tires, Yokohama BluEarth. I love the look of the 21” wheels so that was the deciding factor. HAH. |

Ideally, for snow the 20" square set up is better. Those monster rears on the 21s are like sleds. I know lots of members do snow tires on those wheels, more for looks than anything else. Narrower is better.

I have the 20" package and the only issue I have is tire availability for it with 285/40 R20. As far as I can tell the Pirelli Scorpions are the only thing available. Move to a 275/35 R20 and there are better choices like Hakkas.

The 21"s are very fun and look great but the conditions need to be right and they were on the rough side except when the road was perfect...which is ok... For the cold and winter months I think I'm looking forward to the orbit grey 20"s. Can you send a pic Thx |

Good call, I’m sure you have much more snow and winter weather to deal with than some of us down south.
Did you get a good deal at least? I had my dealer willing to do $2,900 taxes, mounted, and out the door. |

Holy moly, you got a steal... from the dealer..? Wow... If so, boy I went wrong. I thought $3700 was a good price... O well. I'm actually looking forward to a softer ride in the winter...we'll see!! |

Yeah, it is my local BMW dealer, I negotiated it down a little but he started at $3000.
The BluEarth tires are a lot softer of a ride, it’s a nice change. |

Thank you. No, the crazy swap deal was me selling the silver/machined 612s and buying the black 612s. Unfortunately, the weather started getting cold so I decided to just bite the bullet and put on the winter wheels (611s), instead of putting on the 612s and only having to change them out again in a few weeks.
I had this winter set up from my '16. |

Snow/ice forecasted for PA Thurs, and I'll be reluctantly switching out myself tomorrow afternoon
Going to miss my meaty 325 rears...maybe I should have kept my extra black 612M with Yokos. It's all your fault cmyx6go

I just had the Yokohama BluEarth 21" Snows put on my OEM rims today. I considered a full set of 21" tires and rims as well as a full set of 20" tires and rims but in the end just decided to put 21" snow tires on the OEM rims
