Coding: Best OBD for iOS?

Friends,

As the title suggests, I’m seeking recommendations. Plenty of coding threads, but need clarity on which OBD works best for the F15 with iOS + BimmerCode? Some of you use Vgate; but again, which device (there are quite a few on Amazon). Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

I run vgate 2 WiFi / iPhone with iOS 12 and bought both BimmerLink and BimmerCode.

I think bimmercode is essential for all coding. Bimmerlink is great for exhaust flap and error clearing.

Vgate as well. Only BimmerCode to code. All working super good.
Connecting Bluetooth though, WiFi does not seems to be an option.

Vgate icar 2 WIFI version...(don't get the Bluetooth one]
Have coded a couple F30s, F87 and an F15 with BimmerCode ...no issues. Flawless.

Recommendation from Manufacturer:

http://bimmercodeapp.com/adapter/

I have an OBD Kiwi 3, and it's perfect, super fast.
Choose always Bluetooh, no WIFI.
For price chose: Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0

Thank you. Just curious as to your recommendation for Bluetooth over WIFI? What is the benefit over WIFI with respect to coding?

I use a VeePeak BT LE reader with BimmerCode.
I don’t know if it’s “the best” but it works just fine.

If you use vgate on f15 I ll be curious to see how you use WiFi.
My understanding is it is equipped with WiFi but only Bluetooth works.

when pluggling in the icar3 to the obd2 port, it creates a wifi network called V-LINK. once that's available, i connect to it. when i'm using wifi, i turn the bluetooth off to conserve battery on my iphone.

I use the WiFi model and works just fine. I just have to bust out my iPad to access this app to refer to guides etc lol. Annoying.

How long does it take for you to initially load all ecu's. Mine is like 2min 🤔

Could you elaborate? Candidly, I had planned on using my iPad to do all the coding vs. multiple devices.

Is anyone using this VGATE device?
This is the second one I've gotten because i thought the first one was dead on arrival.

When i plug it into the obd2 port, all the lights blink but then only the "battery" light stays red.
Then when i search for either the WiFi network OR Bluetooth devices, nothing appears...

Am i completely missing something or is the device trash?

Print out the coding cheat sheet and any coding instructions you are using in advance and you won't need multiple devices.

One of the reasons why I wanted recommendations. Reading reviews on Amazon, it is not uncommon to have a defective device out of the box. I was hoping to avoid any manufacturer issues, but is seems Vgate 2 is most reliable?

Yea. Very frustrating especially since this is the SECOND device that did the same thing.
