Potentially New X5 Driver / Concerns

Hi all,

Been going through a whirlwind with my x3 and to the point where bmw probably buying it back. Looking at used F15's as an option to move into 2016 20k miles on average.

What should I look out for as far as concerns?

How is the drive, wheel vibrations present at speeds etc? Loud cabin noise?

Thanks for the help. Been struggling with issues on my 2018 x3 for 5 months I am super sensitive a lot of potential issues.

Drives great. Steering leaves much to be desired. No vibrations. Not the quietest vehicle.

Not sure where to start here.

-Rear Axles need replacing
-Bumpy Ride beyond the M sport suspension Chop
-Loose steering
-Steering Wheel knocking
-rear leather seats need replacing due to defect
-rear lift gate opening on its own
-right side blind spot detection not working
-buzzing behind instrument cluster when HVAC coming on and off
-Ride is loud, tires make it louder sounds like wheel bearing is bad but its just the nature of the car
-squeaking in the wheel well.
-squeaking in the center console
-buzzing near the front passengers seat belt
-exhaust vibrations outside of normal
-couple other little small things but more then enough that I'm not interested in jumping into another x3

General Design issues include
- interior looks nice but questionable. More plastic then it looks
- Sound proofing no where near even a used x5. Current looking at 2016's that where quieter.
- Seats not nearly as comfortable as any of the X5 seats
- Handling was awesome, steering was not much better then the X5 by any means.

So all the X5's are generally loud as well. That is a shame a quick drive in one seems like its much quieter then the x3.

Drove a M550i and it was silent compared to the x3.

Test drove one an noticed vibrations in the steering wheel from the start seems normal though especially when the heater in blasting? Also normal road feel vibrations? Nothing like the lane assist or anything just trying to see what is normal.

My x3 had vibrations between certain speeds and turned out to be a rear axle issue needing replacement.

Removing the repair items from the above, I couldn't help but wonder if these were present during the test drive. Did they just manifest themselves over time? Based on your sig, it would seem it was a brand-new purchase.

Mine is very quiet; when I get into other vehicles I always think a window is rolled down a bit or something.

Issues came over time. Rear axles issue started at about 5000 miles. Then started noticing more and more as time progressed.

I need 2x cars drove 2x x5 we like first one

2016 contor seats 35i... drives real nice. Beige with the sunset looking color exterior 26k miles.

then a 2017 50i... real nice, loaded M sport.

Any issues with those model years or engines?

F15 X5's have super quiet cabin's. The sound proofing is extremely good to block most road noises.

Only one issue on the x5 50i

Says a Damage report on the car fax. I didn't see any damage to the right rear. Wonder what this could mean.

Fender bender? You should have a shop inspect it to be sure. My X5 was rear ended last summer and only damaged the bumper which was replaced. Car drives perfect still.

I agree. Not sure about the complaints. I find the cabin to be very quiet and comfortable.

I'm with you! I've owned 4 of them, I loved them all! Make sure you check the service history of anything you want to buy, first and last thing you need to do.

Then get, enjoy the ride, love the sound!

Kiss French, drive German, and eat pizza!

God bless America!

I agree Found a nice 35i with msport and m adaptive suspension which was all I wanted really coudl do without the 50i. Ill still a Dinan on it will be same as b58 at that point.

50i was always over kill but yeah that Carfax scared me away fast. Real shame drove it and was really impressed.
