Idrive 5.0 on 2016 X5 or X6M?

I can't seem to find a straight answer to this. I'm guessing it's a no but other than carplay and android auto isn't it just a software update? I dont have the touchscreen which I see is not a requirement for the 5.0. Maybe you guys can shime in.

I have not seen any mention of a major version upgrade for older vehicles.

Other than the touch screen, the screen size (10.25" vs 10.0") and resolution are different. Due to those reasons, I've been told that iDrive 5.0 will not work on the older screen.

new iDrive uses new nbt (hardware). it's not possible to upgrade from older system. new hardware isn't compatible to screen and other units.
