2016 x5m with active autowerke dp, first impressions!
Hi all, I'm new on this forum, since I just bought a x5m
Car is awesome, I'm from Panama, (central America country) and this car has 575hp instead of 567hp, like European spec, also a bit lighter then US spec I recently install the downpipes, ordered from active autowerke, Miami florida! Those are catless one and each one is about 8 pounds lighter! First impression, car is MUCH louder than stock, but I notice loss a little low end torque, then can notice more top end power. Is that normal? Does anybody has experience with downpipes? Thanks for help! |

I began with an Active Autowerkes tune on the e70 S63 platform and then added their catless downpipes a few months later. The difference with their tune was very noticeable and a MUST HAVE, however when I added their catless DPs, it seemed that the low end torque suffered a small amount (although still stronger than without a tune). Active Autowerkes then offered a stage 2+ tune upgrade designed for use with downpipes, which helped bring the torque back and reduced the lingering exhaust odor. Is it worth it? I think so. I do love the sound of the downpipes. An important side note is that the volcanic heat that was once created under the hood is no longer an issue. I'm still not certain that my truck feels as quick on the low end as it did with a "tune only". Perhaps the truck likes a bit of back pressure provided by the catted system to accentuate the low end turbo shove? We're about to find out as my twin is going to accomplish a "tune only" in a few weeks. We will do a heads up comparison when he does. |
