Quick review - Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 tires
Just picked up a 17 F15 x50i M-Sport about two weeks ago. Came with the Dunlop RFTs and about 19k miles. They're louder and firmer anyway but they were pretty cupped so the noise levels were even more obvious.
Ended up getting the DWS' at my dealer (my 6th BMW since 06 so know them fairly well) along with an alignment. Tires were $1061 and BMW has a promo for $100 rebate (mail-in) as well as a $99 alignment (in center). Wow......OK, review over. Seriously. Great set of tires. The ride is so quiet and smooth now. I put about 30 mikes on them just to get a good feel for what's underfoot and while it's no M3 around an exit ramp, it's also no slouch either. I had a 13 E70 and this car is such a step forward anyway, in my opinion, but these new shoes were the icing on the cake. Glad to keep this updated as ownership progresses and weather conditions change but very pleased with these tires so far. (Pic because the car is beautiful) |

Congrats!
I drove a loaner the other day with runflats it reminded me why I got rid of them a long time ago.

They totally should. Funny you mention that as I saw a review of them on YouTube on a Mustang. I was thinking how odd that seemed as I only think X5 for those tires.

+1 on the Contis. I ordered our X5 with the spare tire option just waiting for the day when the RFTs were done. Been very pleased with the performance so far, had them on for a number of months.

I moved my Audi Q7 from the OEM Dunlops (non-run-flat) to the Continental extreme contact dws06 295/35 ZR 21 107y m+s and they've been much better all-season tires .

No squishy feeling on the sidewall compared to the Dunlops? My experiences is that the corning was softer due to the softer sidewalls.

On the original DWS it was a bit soft on the sidewalls, on the revised 06 they improved it a lot. They’ll still feel softer than the hard as rocks Dunlop summer tires

Sharing some additional experience with these tires. About 500 miles on dry and wet surfaces with no issues. This morning, I left Raleigh at 4am and drove 5.5hrs to Richmond (normally 2.5hrs) through wet/packed snow and eventually sleet and back to snow. Speed varied from 20-45mph on I95 and the Contis did well. Can't imagine how I would have fared with the Dunlop RFTs. The Contis seem to channel snow and slush pretty well.
Went back out a couple of hours ago in 11" of snow and the X5 felt like it tracked pretty well in secondary roads. Biggest concern I had were idiot drivers that have no business even having a license, much less in conditions like today. Very pleased with winter performance on the F15. |
