Help with iDrive Profiles and seat memory by key Fob
Although the F85 is my wife's, its too fun a vehicle for me to not drive...often. Her Wrangler previously did not have automatic seats so it needed to be manually adjusted each time we switched, no big deal, expected in a Jeep. I am currently not near the manual so I cannot RTFM and a search turned up very little. From memory I cannot remember how it worked on the F10 because my wife never drove it.
How do you set the seats, steering wheel and other idrive settings by key? I had thought the F85 would just recognize the key, but this does not seem to be the case as I hit my head today on the pillar trying to squeeze into my wife's ridiculously close seat settings. Is it done via profile? Should the key remember without doing anything? Does "save last seat setting" need to be activated?

We save the settings using the seat 1/2 buttons. Then when we get in with a keyfob, it sets the car to the previous settings for that keyfob. Don't recall doing any special coding, but wouldn't put it past me either.

What tastelid said. Use memory buttons on seats to program each of your settings. As long as you always use your key, you're good. It will save your M settings too.
If you use the save last setting, that will override your memory setting if you move the seat and don't save. This works if you are tweaking to find that perfect setting. Don't use this if someone else drives the vehicle. |

There is an option in the settings - forget which one 1 that saves last seat position. This remembers the seat position to the profile and adjusts the seat upon unlock.
Just make sure that you are saving the seat position to your profile. |

Then the "save last setting" only comes into play when you use the same FOB and want it to remember 1 versus 2 correct? I think what happened is at delivery we used her FOB to set hers (1) and mine (2), but I now use my FOB.

Save last setting would apply to which ever FOB/setting you are using. If you have your key and setting on 1, and you change the seat position it will remember that position. |

Before you start any setting of a new BMW, go to settings and create a new profile first. Otherwise it won't remember any settings.
