Spacers, Wheel Locks and Wheel/Tire Insurance

OK team, let's see if the collective minds can help me out here.

I'm thinking about putting spacers on The Machine. I know what's needed for the Spacers/Bolts, but now considering options for adding Wheel Locks to each wheel.

1) I've found various OEM options, but those are for the F15 (not F85), so not sure if those would work. Expecting they won't if I'm adding 5mm/15mm spacers to front & back. Any ideas on Wheel Lock options with spacers?

2) Any ideas whether adding spacers will negate the Wheel & Tire insurance package from BMW? I added this to my deal at purchase, so don't want to lose that coverage by adding something like this. I don't have my paperwork handy at the moment, but will take a look at that tonight when I get home as well.

I had Tikore titanium locks on my M5 after hearing the OEM locks get stripped by the key rather easily. They are custom fit, so you can specify the length of spacer used. Pricey, but a high quality product.

And although I know wheel locks don't deter true thieves, if it turns anyone away person or slows someone down its worth it to me.

Thanks, interesting option...but also much more than I want to spend. I did find the option of RAD Locks as well as the Eurasia option through ECS. I'm checking to see if I can get a mixed set of locks at the proper lengths for front/rear. Otherwise the Eurasia option looks interesting.

Meanwhile, need to review the Wheel/Tire Protection paperwork to make sure there isn't any fine print about installing aftermarket spacers/bolts/etc. Will update the thread after I read through that.

Why spacers? You want to go even more aggressive? Keep in mind you will be kicking up some serious debris onto your own fenders and doors by pushing the wheels out even more.

Well, I already spend a fair amount of time cleaning down there when I wash the car, and I've put them on every car I've owned over the last few years (S7, E90 M3, 997 GTS, Panamera S, 997 C2S)...it adds just enough aggressiveness to the stance that I prefer.

I'm thinking about passing on the locks (if they want the wheel, they'll find a way) as I'm very rarely parked outside in unsecure lots. More concerned about issues with the Wheel/Tire Protection than anything else.

i had a set of wheel locks on my Merc C63 that I'm pretty sure no thief could get around. For simple locking lugs I know they can do all sorts of simple tricks, but these looked unbreakable. Project Kics ReGuard is the brand. Ain't cheap, but worth the cost of feeling (mostly) secure.

Thanks. I just heard back from RAD. They won't sell a 'mixed' set, but suggested I purchase a set of the longer version, then cut the other ones down. Not sure if that's a route I want to take. Will check these out.

Update on this:

I read through my Tire/Wheel Protection agreement a few times, and no mention of alterations to the suspension or installation of wheel spacers, so should be good there.

So with that, I just ordered 5mm for the front, 15mm for the rear...looking forward to another small project to "King Kong".

I have not decided on wheel locks. I found a couple of options, but were either too $$$ or sat on top of the standard wheel bolt. Given mine is garaged almost all of the time and feeling as though these wheels are rarely targeted, I'm just going to install the extended wheel bolts with the spacers and call it done.

I was told my wheel/tire insurance also would cover any aftermarket wheels/tires, as well. It may be a pain in the *** trying to collect on something like this, but at least it's covered. Post some pics when you are done!
EDIT: also please post what you've ordered in the even I may want to jump on the spacer bandwagon, if you don't mind. Thanks

Will certainly post some pics. I purchased the HR 5mm & 15mm from Ben @ RG Sports Shop. I couldn't decide whether to just do the rears, but after taking a closer look, the fronts could use a little push. The wheels on the F15 does have a fairly aggressive offset from the factory, but the F85 has that extended lip on the wheel arch that sort of hides the offset...this should get back that strong, aggressive stance.

15mm: http://www.rgsportshop.com/index.php...product_id=803
5mm: http://www.rgsportshop.com/index.php...product_id=811

They are scheduled to be delivered later this week, but I've got a lot of travel the next couple of weeks, so probably won't get a chance to install until May. Will post some before/after pics.

@DallasCajun Thank you for the order.
The offset of the F85/F86 20" are the same as F15/F16 M Sport 20". And both car uses the same flare.
Based on my test, 5mm front and 15mm rear are the best setup.

I am very interested to see how this turns out - looking forward to you posting pics!!! Ordered my KW suspension last week - should be here in two weeks - will need spacers to push the wheels out a little to complete the look...
