steering wheel vibration

I've been noticing some constant vibration on my steering wheel... as long as the car is moving, I feel it. if the car is stopped, it is minimal/normal.

it is not like something is wrong with balancing, doesn't feel like warped brakes also... The vibration is constant at all speeds. the vibration at 40mph feels the same as 100mph.

it feels like the "vibra-call" on a celular, in the steering wheel. my hands are tired after a while.

Any ideas? Car has only 1200 miles.

Only time my steering wheel vibrates like a cellphone is when I have lane assist on, and I'm not paying attention, so it alerts me I'm nearing the edge of the lane. Is there a fault, and yours is constantly on?

I don't have that option in my car (no lane assist).

it is very light vibration, like a cell phone. Maybe even less than that, but after some time my hands are tired...

It vibrates if you are going outside of your lane also. You might have that option and the software just isn't letting go of the vibration?

Can be many things including control arms, suspension and even bent rim. You need to visit dealer as soon as possible because at this mileage you can ask them to perform steering adjustment with no cost.

thanks, car is already at the dealer. Things being checked:
-my roof stopped working;
-steering wheel vibration;
-no difference between suspension modes.

waiting to hear back from them later today.

dealer checked , said it is normal, "bigger road feedback" due to the wide sports tires.

Wouldn't buy that if I were you. The one problem which most people seem to have with this car is the LACK of steering feedback. The X5M unfortunately has a pretty numb steering response. It shouldn't be vibrating. It should be very smooth. As for the suspension, it is noticeable when you go through the different modes.

he said they compared to another x5m in there, and it was the same.

here is his full response:

"My master tech and a foreman looked over the vehicle and it seems the module for the sunroof locked up and they were able to perform a reset through the diagnostic computer. The sunroof is working properly and there were no faults. It’s kind of like when a computer freezes up and you just need to restart it. They checked the setting with the suspension and they did notice a difference in the dampening but due the wheel setup and the fact that its and M model it’s not as extremely noticeable as on a basic model. The X5M will always have a firmer suspension overall. The feedback feel on the steering wheel is from the tires due to its performance characteristics you would feel more of the road. They compared it with another X5M in the shop and it’s exactly the same."
