ASD on 2015 X5M?

My dealer says it is not used on my X5M or on anything with a V8. Can anyone confirm whether or not it is being used on the X5M?

Unfortunately your dealer is incorrect on this and it is used on an X5M and X6M. There are a few threads about it on here.

I know of three ways that you can "disable" it:
  • Coding
  • Disconnecting the ASD "unit" from the amp
  • Pulling a fuse that is supposed to only be tied to ASD

I personally have not done any of these yet because I've been lazy about it. I'm leaning to pulling the fuse.

your dealer is totally wrong. and he/she should know better. i had the same thing happen to me when i purchased my X5M. i asked and was told, oh no, that's been done away with. wrong. it's there. so they're either oblivious or lying (either one is totally unacceptable, in my book).

I had mine coded off, but it looks much easier to pull the ASD plug which takes about 5 minutes (access from the trunk). Then no more ASD. HTH

I pulled the fuse on mine and works just as well. May eventually code it out as well. Fuse # is 129 in case you want to pull yourself. Takes 30 seconds and fake exhaust sound is gone!

Thanks for the heads up. I have taken out the fuse with the help of my mechanic. It did make a noticeable difference in the interior sound of the vehicle. I'm looking forward to my 3 hour drive on Monday to see if the interior drone is gone.

Awesome. Enjoy. I noticed a MASSIVE difference. I listen to lossless music like FLAC rips of CDs or better, and the ASD was giving me fits. I had ponied up the cash for the B&O system, as well, so I was totally dumbfounded why BMW would continue with the abomination that is ASD. So I had it coded off. I may, however, pull the plug (the fuse has me a little more worried - it won't throw an error code if you pull it?) on the amp, which has incredibly easy access to it and won't throw any error codes. The dealer nearly recoded ASD on for me on the last service and so that's the downside to coding...
