Clicking sound on every revolution. Help.

I have a clicking metallic sound coming from passenger front side of car. Been driving me crazy lately, thought it was something worse until I found that this one l piece was loose. Rocking back and forth. Anyone know what's the part is called so I can get it fixed?

Image is from Google, but it's the same thing.

Thanks in advance.

Those look like the weights that are added to the brake pads to dampen sound. Also, this isn't a part that can be replace, you have to buy new brake pads.

what an irony... the piece that suppose to dampen the sound makes the most of it!

Unfortunately, that's how it is sometimes. These weights shouldn't have any movement to them. Their supposed to dampen the harmonics out when the brakes are applied.

Yeah that's crazy that this would even break. Isn't this part of the Caliper itself ? These are power stop ceramic pads, and looking at replacement pads, I don't see the damper weights.

I Appreciate your response.

I'm 99% sure it's a part of the pads. Online pics might be generics, but here are the listings for OEMs from ECS and FCP (assuming I'm referencing the correct part number - 34117852969). They are both showing weights on the pads.

These are the pads I have on them.

Maybe the installer skipped a step and reused the original balancer weights, Im guessing.

It's been on there for a out 2 years now. Problem just started a couple weeks ago..

The weights are bonded and/or rivetted to the pads. I don't believe that there is a way to reuse them. The picture on Amazon is inaccurate as it doesn't show the weights (I have the same pads).

Although I would certainly get the pads replaced with ones that don't have a loose weight, I wonder if that is NOT the clicking problem. There are a few posts that describe the same noise and it has nothing to do with the brake pads.

The only pads that I haven't seen with the weights on them are EBC pads. And I could be mistaken. I'm currently running Power Stop Carbon Ceramics on my rig. And I use Brembo Carbon Ceramics on my AMG. And all the years I have own either vehicles, I've never had a issue with dampening weights on the pads.
