Had it done on mine and it is much peppier in sport mode and I love the extra push. that being said I have still not tried quick launch with it yet. Although after the coding was done I have been noticing that my steering is tighter in comfort mode more so than sport mode, anyone else having that issue?

My question is....does the MPPK significantly affect drivability in the "new" comfort mode. Sometimes when driving in sport mode now (i don't have MPPK) it feels too edgy when cruising around town- holds revs a bit too long at times. For every day driving I don't mind comfort mode now, and feel that sport mode is almost perfect when I want to drive a bit more aggressively. If the addition of the MPPK makes the car feel like its always in sport mode, I may not want it. I just wish there was a car I could test drive with it before I add it to my build

viperdoc - that is one of the key questions I have as well.
First, can you really tell a difference in accelerating from 45mph to around 85mph? Most are saying yes - it is noteworthy. Secondly, and this is your question, in comfort mode under MPPK, is the drivability maintained? I do not want an edgy M type driving experience until I shift into Sport or Sport+. Thirdly, not interested in a louder / burbly / muscle car exhaust note. The responses on this issue are a bit mixed as I have read them. Lastly, is the reliability of the engine impacted with MPPK? There are some posts suggesting yes as indicated by the MPPK not being available with a trailer hitch installed as MPPK pushes the engine to its "tune limit". I do not buy that at all. Take a look at what the Ford Raptor is pushing out with a 3.5 liter V6. I know, apples to oranges, but the increase strikes me as modest. So, MPPK drivers, what will we really experience? Update - so I got around to reading the 2014 Product Information pdf that Kzang posted and it answered the question about exhaust note - it is enabled / enhanced when in Sport mode - Good News. Also, it possibly addressed the trailer hitch issue in that the MPPK install should not be done in conjunction with an X5 sDrive - the xDrive is not prohibited. That suggests to me that it is some issue other than the engine has been tuned to the limits. Last edited by Apple Corps; 05-07-2017 at 06:46 PM.. |

Here is stock cold start of video of mine. Here is MPPK tune cold start. Here is MPPK warm start and revs. Here is MPPK and MPE cold start for reference. In regards to the question about comfort mode drivability... to me MPPK basically boosts your horsepower and torque even higher than stock and provides a more quicker throttle response. No jerking or bucking going on for me. In sport mode the revs are held longer and that crisp throttle response you feel in sport mode stock is enhanced. After a few months I got used to the new power and I upped the performance with a racechip tune stacked on top.

Kzang - thanks for your very detailed response. At some point I've researched this as much as is practical and you have to fish or cut bait.
So, MPPK is scheduled for an install later this week and I'll report back after I get some driving with MPPK under the belt. |

Hi Everyone, I just had an MPPK installed on my new 2017 X5 with M performance package. My sport display gauges however still say 320 hp and torque after the install . I asked the dealer to verify that the package was coded properly and he's going to check with the foreman. Has anyone else had this mppk installed on a 2017 with the new I drive touch system and can verify that they should now say 400 just like the older idrive? Is there any other way to verify? Thanks!

I would have some serious trust issues with the dealer that charged you for the MPPK upgrade and let you drive the car home under the impression that it was installed when in fact it wasn't.

If they aren't able to perform the MPPK upgrade successfully they should offer a full refund, and if they are able to successfully apply the upgrade on your next visit, they should refund all of the associated labor for wasting your time.

First thing I did this time was check the sport displays before I drove off the lot. My dealer always notes on service orders that they checked tire pressure and adjusted. I will occasionally over inflate a tire and check it after service to see if they really did adjust pressure. 99% of the time they haven't touched the tire at all. |

So just as an update for everyone, I finally got my X5 back with MPPK properly programmed. It took 3 trips, yes 3. First two times the sport displays didn't change and they insisted they programmed it properly. I asked to see the proof from the foreman with the codes and everything they did. Finally I got a call from the SA saying that they noticed an error and I need to bring it back. Low and behold the third time was the charm and there were no errors and the sport displays changed to 400. BMW of Manhattan, which is a corporate dealership. Horrible. Don't ever trust anything, so glad I have this forum for research or else my $1000 MPPK purchase would've been wasted with nothing actually done to the car. Ridiculous. And thanks again!!

Would you mind providing an update on the MPPK? My criteria match yours and I am wondering what is your opinion after having lived with it for a while. Thank you in advance! Martin Last edited by malutki; 05-28-2017 at 05:56 PM.. |

The only little "nagging" thing in the back of my mind was the impact on the durability / reliability / longevity of the engine. Like many on this board, I have always thought of my purchases of BMWs as long term keepers. Now I think of them in terms of 5 years or so and my driving style is certainly not going to be hammering the six cylinder that often. So - install I will. |

maluku - just read a post about a known problem in loading the MPPK onto new 2017 X5s. As such, I am holding off until that issue is flushed - don't need a "bricked" X5 LOL.

I found this thread. My dealer did give me a price and indicated I would get a loaner for the day.. My SA said not many people get it done and he hasn't heard anything either way..

well, I decided to go for it and it's been there all day and the latest text I got from them is "I'm sorry for the delayed response, The car is setting faults for dynamic stability malfunctions since the programing. We are in the process of working through"
be aware that it's not the only one to have issues (2017 at least) so if you do it, be prepared for this to possibly. Happen.
