New key not working

Hello everyone
I purchased a CPO 2016 X5 not too long ago that didnt come with a spare key. Dealer says we will order one and ship it you. I received the key and attempted to unlock the car with zero response. I clicked all the buttons and nothing happens. I double checked the invoice and the VIN is correct. Am I missing something here? Thanks in advance.

Did you have to pair it to the car?

Exactly. After that all worked fine.
