Also, it’s not a small amount of stufff… - middle row seats, they move so you can actually use the third row. Otherwise the whole situation is useless - rear seats - every carpet and floor panel in the rear - middle carpets - insulation for the floor - all side panels in the rear - seat belts - aircon consoles and ducting - wiring for center console, maybe it’s already there? Maybe not… Oh, and change out your shocks while you’re at it as they’re a nightmare to change once you put all that stuff in. |

I have an MSport 35d with third row and decided to remove the third row for more storage (and less weight) under the trunk (I also added a 12” sub ). I think the retrofit would be a really big and expensive job. You may be lucky to find a wrecked unit in your area so you can get the needed pieces and wiring harness for the sensors and heating (it’s built into the third row seats assembly). I would expect that the mounting points for the seats are there in your car but I’d want to verify that before you purchased a bunch of stuff. You also need the second row seats as they are different mechanically to allow access to the third row. Nothing’s impossible but this is a biggie. It would also be ideal to have rear air suspension to manage the weight (seats and occupants) so as to avoid a slouching X5.
Do report back if it works out and best of luck! |
